Just watched the 2003 Brazilian Grand Prix in it's entirety on Sky Sports F1, superb viewing, just how GP racing should be, exciting!

What the vid fails to mention is that Fisichella hadn't actually won, they got the rules wrong, podium was 1st Raikonnen, 2nd Fisichella, 3rd Nobody (Alonso was on a stretcher in an ambulance!)
 
I think you will find fisi was announced the winner in the end, kimi had to hand the trophy over a couple of races down the line - if I recall correctly the actual result was decided in a court case as Jordan challenged the Italy result - great race though!!

I was obsessed with cars since I could speak, but can only really remember F1 from around the schumi\Senna days, first real memory was the senna crash, whilst i was sat in the lounge with mum in the kitchen :'(

I was 4 in 88 :)

Little aero dependency, cars could follow closely, slipstream, overtake. All natural.

This modern era of DRS overtaking is so artificial.

The FIA haven't addressed the root cause of the overtaking problem. Instead they've attempted to remedy the issue by adding DRS. This is daft.

What needs to happen is reintroduction of ground effect. Ground effect is a low-drag method for creating downforce, and means that cars will be able to follow each other - crucially - without losing downforce. Front and rear wings would be less important, and therefore following cars in front would be easier.

They were supposed to re introduce ground effect 2013, but they bottled it :thumbsdown:

Wider tyres and wider track would punch a bigger hole in the air too, leaving a greater area of low pressure behind the car for slipstreaming. Cars are FAR too skinny these day :thumbsdown:

If you guys all vote me in. I'll happily head up the FIA to make it happen :)

Really, glad to hear it, Fisichella was so made up when he thought he'd won. Another interesting aspect was that there were two makes of tyres, Bridgestone & Michelin, adding another variable to the mix

+2 well an unofficial one. It's actually a the second time but after watching Rush I had to read it again.

I do blooming love the F1. Really looking forward to next year and how the rule changes effect things. Apparently the cars will be ugly :thumbsdown:

Your not wrong Adamski that Williams is special to me. I have a picture of me sat on the front left tyre of one of them :thumbsup: it was a very successful car designed by Patric head ( legend ) and some guy called Newey???

I do hope Williams start getting some funding and better results soon. I hate seeing them where they are :thumbsdown: hopefully Massa will bring some experience to the driver line up. Bottas is coming good and I am glad that plank Maldanado is off. I hope they get lucky designing the new car :thumbsup:

We will never see such creativity again, the way the rules are written now they may as well be all driving the same car.
Wouldn't it be great to hear V12s, against V8s, flat 12s in there and maybe even a turbo just like between the late 80's and early 90's when it really was the best racing on the planet.

Biggest problem I have is most forms of Motorsport have followed this lead to ruination and dull boring predicable races.

Go back to steel brakes, that would at least make braking distances longer. More time to overtake!
I'm not sure F1 is real racing anymore!

I don't think that is entirely correct. I have it on good authority that 'you can drive a bus through the rules'. :wink: Why do you think Red Bull are so dominant? It's because they have Adrian Newey heading up designers (and external consultants) who are very good at interpreting the rules to suit their advantage when designing their cars.
