GPS holder

Personally I'm not that keen on the positioning, also it may get in a real mess once you have the cables running up to it. That aside, I didn't see anything on there for BMW cars? Z4 specific, I don't think the mirror attaches in that way (but really don't know). The rain sensor sits at the back of the mirror though and you will probably also have some wiring through from the alarm sensor and auto dimming - not sure how easily the mount would fit over those.

Hopefully someone with a little more knowhow will be able to confirm, but those are my immediate thoughts.

Personally I have a vent ment, use by BlackBerry, which is neat, out of the way and the cable is relatively unobtrusive... although it obviously does prevent some heat / cooling loss.

If you have the piano black trim, then you can stick it to that by using a suction mount. I find that it's a better position foir night-time driving than my normal position in the gap between the instrument binnacle and the A-pillar, as it keeps the amount of glare down as it's out of my line of sight unless I glance down at it, and mostly it's used for the audible speed camera warnings.

I don't think that's a very sensible position - that will block out part of your view forward.

What's wrong with just suctioning it to the window? That's what I do with my TomTom One, remembering to wipe the trace of the suction cup off the glass when parking up. Mine sits in the middle of the screen at the bottom.

Garmin unit comes with a black plastic disc you can mount on the dash and then use the suction mount. Much better IMO than the window mounting bracket - agree with other; restricts forward vision and wires dangling everywhere.

I have a garmin that I mount under the dash above the ashtray. It came with a small circular smooth tile that I stuck under so the sucker grips. the advantage is that it is out of sight of the window and close the socket so no wires. Easy to remove the sucker and no tell tale marks

I have a vent mount which works well...

those mirror mounts and such cause a massive blind spot IMO

I use a cup holder mount for mine. Perfect position, doesnt obstruct anything and no marks. Downside no drink I suppose but that doesnt bother me. I do have satnav on a mobile phone though so a fair size widescreen satnav may get in the way. Will up a pick when get a chance.

I bought a vent mount from Amazon.com for $3.95. There should be someone over there that also sells one. It just clips onto the vent louvers and is held in place with springs.

I've used this from ProClips for a while now. Getting the clip to go in between the dash trim and the rubber(ish?) material was kind of a pain but it worked. The downside is for where it's at you really really should not look at the GPS while driving. Also taller people might bump it with knees, but they only do it ONCE! :telloff:

I use the ProClip and GPS mount from ProClip on all my vehicles. I have used other devices but nothing else comes close to being as good.

Said I'd reply ages ago but only just got round to it, this is my solution:

Works like a charm but for a mobile with satnav not a separate unit.
