Been lots of times and going again at the end of January... we love the people, the history, the culture - you obviously can't see past the poverty to the warmth of the people

Went there last year on a fact finding mission for a new venture, however it was a no-go.

1/ The people...oh you mean when we were walking through a poor area why were some men dragging their young daughters out of their shack's and offering them for £5.00 (equivalent)

2/ The history....oh that'll be the 'Cast' system then

3/ The culture... as above 'Cast system' plus women are second-rate citizens

4/ The music I do like = Ravi Shankar.RIP

I always believe you should go to all area's when visiting any country that way you can understand the people better, it's not just about staying in a nice hotel :)

But IMO it's a tip in general

...hello scorned women's rights

Sarcasm aside, I hope you don't get stuck in public manifestations during your holiday.

Say what Bubba??
I didn't think Canadian lager was that strong :D

If you're ever out of work Kryton, I reckon you'll have no problem getting a job with the Indian Tourist Board. :-)

Or the UN :poke:

Got a long weekend booked away for 10-14 Jan with missus. Managed to keep the destination a secret so far, so she's no idea where we are off to.

Then got 2 weeks in Singapore/Hong Kong in May for a friends wedding and then visiting her family in HK. Really looking forward to this as never been to either before.

After that nothing, unless I can talk her into another winter sun break in November/December! (We did St Lucia this year and Antigua in 2011, so thinking a different Caribbean island in 2013!!).

Plus will no doubt have a weekend or 2 visiting friends in Holland and checking my tenants haven't destroyed my house completely!!

I'm thinking Ski holiday this year. Fancy Folgarida again

Worthy alternative to a beach holiday
