Was pulled once, on the M8, travelling between Glasgow & Edinburgh. Travelling at the going rate for some quite heavy traffic flow (around 75) in the outside lane, some muppet in a 4x4 joins the carriageway, pulls straight into the outside lane, accelerates right up to my bumper so close I can't see his number plate, Xenons on giving major glare into the rear view, so I speed up to 85, he's still there, so I pull over into the first lane, he copies.... and then hits the blues and twos.
Pull on to the hard shoulder, he comes round and opens up with " why didn't you pull over earlier, didn't you see we were a police vehicle"... and wasn't best pleased when I said that if he'd pulled back rather than sit on my arse, I may have noticed earlier, and as he was so close I could not tell if he'd had his blues on - all I could see was the glare from his headlights which were right in the centre of my rear window. After kindly informing me that the speed limit was 70 on that stretch, he then left....
Know quite a few traffic officers, they all commented that this guy was a complete muppet. Its a shame because I have a lot of time for most of them, and can see where instances like this can really influence the general conception of traffic officers.
