S172 form to identify the driver
Was on the A92 Lochgelly road. Road is a 70 limit I got done for 76 in a statutory 60 as driving a van not the Zed :headbang:
Would have been ok in a car but due to stupid laws of vans being heavier laden they have reduced limits(nobody seen a 300c or a volvo xc90 size and weight)
In a huff big time as first time in 20 years I've been caught!

Oh and thanks to the auld bass in the civic that sped up as I tried to overtake forcing mebto go quicker or go back in behind. They slowed down after I was by them too. I don't get that it happens all the time people speedup as you are alongside but slow down once yer by them :x
Road is dual carraigeway and fairly straight with one long sweeping bend dry sunny conditions etc. Just a farce

I feel for you,i got done for doing 61 on the A96 heading towards Inverness three weeks ago, again not in a car but a 3.5ton Sprinter :headbang:
Like you said the stupid laws that restrict some vans to 50mph on a single carriageway are bizarre

Did they just send the form or photographic evidence?
Just the form and I can request photographic evidence. Also the nip was over 30 days to me but I'm not the registered keeper it's a lease vehicle. So would have went to them first so 14 day rule doesn't apply. I could send it back unsigned then hide from polis for 6 months :poke:
I've been on pepipoo site for advice. Just need to bend over and take it :headbang:
Vans a vivaro so not that big a van but falls under the 1984 rules on vans

Gutted for you :(

That whole speeding up thing and slowing down, WTF is that all about eh, you see people doing it all the time to vans and even more insanely to artics, :? Jst don't get it :?

Some drivers just don't like being overtaken by a van so hence the games that these people play. Many a time you overtake someone then pull in then next minute there roaring past you only to pull in front of you .
My personal opinion these drivers are lacking something in the trouser department :wkr:

Thanks for the support. Just fuming at the whole thing. Will just need to accept it and get on with it

Gutted. I got done last year in a courtesy E90 while the Z4M was in for a new roof (I guess it was Karma for taking the courtesy car on a carlimits day :D ) I was doing 76 on a dual carriageway and drove straight past the van not realising it was a 60 stretch for 100yds or so.

Someone I know has had great success "with timing out" in relpying to the NIP with letters close to the 28 day expiry each time with plausible reasons and request for more information to help you identify the driver etc. They`ll also allow some extra time if the License is "lost" it`s worth paying for a replacement if you get really close to the 6mth time limit.

None of this is condoned or incouraged of course.

I hate that road. The A92 is where I gained my only points for speeding: 80mph in my Clio, 70mph limit, completely empty road, laser camera a long way up the road. That was 6 years ago now but glad to hear they're still focussing on an accident blackspot :headbang:

That reminds me that I need to reregister my van with the DVLA. My max laden weight isn't more than 3000kg and if I leave it registered as a commercial vehicle I'm restricted to "van" speed limits (single 50mph, dual 60mph, motorway 70mph). But if I reregister as a motorhome I'm subject to the same limits as private cars (60 / 70 / 70 mph). Bizarre but true: http://www.ukmotorhomes.net/motorhome-faqs.shtml#speed

Out of interest, how would plod know that you are allowed to do 70 instead of 60? Can't imagine they check so sounds like a battle after an event ...

I imagine their system uses the vehicle registration to work out what vehicle class it's in and therefore what speed limits are applicable to it. But I'm honestly just guessing. Visually there's no difference between my "van" and a campervan.

Obviously that wouldn't work for someone towing a trailer and the corresponding lower speed limits. Ony way for that would be visual check.

No one likes a van or truck in front of them as it hinders your long range road vision, but if the guy is going faster than your cruising speed he is not going to be in front of you for too long, have to agree with the statement of lacking in the trouser Dept.

It was the A92 I had a game of keepy up with a Ford GTO last weekend and ashamed to admit i reached stupid speeds, it is one of "those" roads where breaking the speed limit can be done without even noticing :(
Just hoping now that I don't get a wee letter through the post :(

I came up behind him fast at 60mph pulled out to overtake and he suddenly sped up so we were side by side. I had to accelerate to get by. As soon as I was by and back in inside lane he slowed way down and was miles behind. Just an auld fanny in a silver civic pensioner mobile :x

There's a road to Oxford where that happens to me all the time. A lot of people like to go slow down the road, but there's this wonderful valley where you have tons of visibility, so I often use it for overtaking. More than once I've had to speed up to 80mph+ to get past people that refused to go above 50mph just seconds prior. Once in front as you say, they slow right down again.
