I'm guessing the entry-level 'Hero' will be popular at about £100.
Nearly threw my Hero3+ Black out of the window at the 'Ring last weekend as despite the battery (all 3 of them) being full charged, and the memory card being freshly formatted in-camera, it kept switching off 3 seconds after I pushed record.
Didn't get any footage whatsoever - not even of the thunderstorm/downpour that my lap into a 20mph procession.

I bought a cheap Mobius video cam for £60 for our last roadtrip after the Contour I was using (belonging to my son) was damaged in a quadcopter crash. For £60 it's ok and really easy to use - it's a tiny thing as well, not much bigger than a Tic Tac box. There are better digi video cams out there for sure but nothing beats it for £60.

£100 is not bad, they had to do something i guess as this is becoming more and more popular to have them on cars/bikes/buggies etc so there are loads that are coming out. the SJ4000 camera has a good rep and is about £80 IRC which was considerably cheaper than the hero 3. the new hero 4 black @£470 is a mental price for something that i want to strap to my bumper

Grrr bought my Hero 3 a couple of months ago as well!
Impressive that the new Hero 4 shoots in 4k. Was having a mooch in Currys last night and was captivated by the clarity of the 4K picture. The price was also £4K funnily enough!

This is interesting. My birthday is around the corner and i am not sure what i would like from the old family. I have been told it cant be car parts!! But i think a camera for a car could be sneaked under there radar!! I have no idea about these things or technology in general!! I prefer spanners and oily rags to computers and keyboards!! So with that in mind can any of you guys in the know make a recommendation? I have a pc at work but only an i pad at home would that be a problem using just an i pad?? As i have said i have no cle what so ever.
I like the look of the mobius and the picture quality looks fine in that link to me???? Or is the go pro the one to get are any of these things bluetooth or are they all hard wired type things???

4K is a bit pointless ATM it will be 2-3 years before even 20% of people will have them or the panels become remotely affordable. Just means your edits will be twice as slow and files 3x the size. So unless you are a film maker needing to future proof your media then I would stick to 1080

Indeed. I believe Netflix and YouTube are some of the the only major applications to support 4K at the moment. There's very little content so I'd give it a while before getting into 4K technology. I know SKY is looking to launch it in the near future so let's see if it takes off.
The BBC pumped £millions into 3D broadcasting only to pull it last year so it may just be a flash in the pan.

Yes they are strong and versatile but there are lots of slightly cheaper alternatives which do the same (sometimes better) job.

I recon i will be going down the mobius route. Dont want to be cheeky and ask for to much!!I have just hard wired a möbius, really is a tiny camera.
