Google Maps

Hi everyone, has anyone else had this problem on their iPad and if so how did they fix it? Google Maps works fine in the house using wireless but outside it doesn’t, everything else works. My wife thinks I have poked something and stopped it working, she has spent hours trying to sort this out. Thanks in advance guys, Mike.
 
A quick google search.

“you can disable background app refresh or turn off cellular access for Google Maps entirely within the iPad's settings to ensure it operates in a zero-data mode. “

You probably have to go into app settings, google maps and make sure cellular data is set to on.

My wife has already tried this and nothing has changed, I was hoping someone on here might have had the same problem and knew how to sort it. Thank you anyway, Mike. :thumbsup:
 
This has to be considered, so don't reply with "of course I have a SIM", but do you have a SIM card or ESIM in the iPad?

I'm sorry BeeEmm but I don't know which? Everything is set up for mobile and I can get everything else but it can't receive google Maps. It just has a blank screen and a little blue dot. It used to work fine and it's the same card now.

Yes enuff_zed a map in the car is what I'm thinking, easier to see on a longer trip and no worries about those areas I can't get internet. But of course they are sooo big for such a little car. :rofl: I used to have one of those Readers Digest ones with the fold over pages, really like it.:thumbsup:

Your tablet hasn’t got a gps p fix..so it’s defaulted to the Greenwich meridian on the equator…ie lots of sea..that’s why you can see f@£€ all..

I never use Google Maps. Having an iPhone, I find Apple Maps much more useful and the dsatnav function is much friendlier.
 
I have 3 iPads that use Google maps and never had a problem. I suggest that you uninstall Google maps, then reinstall it away from your home WiFi and see if that sorts it. You could take a trip to Norfolk perhaps and tell them all there that you don't like Apple Maps because it is not as up-to-date as Google. You might have to use WAZE to get you there though. ;)
 
Several versions of iPads don’t have a gps engine..in those cases it uses Wi-Fi to determine position..but out of wi-fi range it hasn’t a clue..

My wife’s put Waze on it till it gets sorted :thumbsup:
