I had a full page one on my mobile chrome browser. Just as I logged into the forum. Had to close it to be able to see anything. Getting the floating banner ads too.
 
I run a central instance of PiHole that covers everything on the house network - rarely see an ad of any sort on any connected device.

Well worth doing as it's free software, I run it on a virtual Debian server but you can get an image that will work happily on a Raspberry Pi so low-power dedicated hardware doesn't cost much.

Non-IT savvy people are unlikely to have a virtualisation environment at home, but here's a tutorial explaining how to block all ads using a Raspberry Pi 4...
