Recently Google ads have started to appear at the top and at the bottom of my screen whenever I am on the Forum. In the last day or two one has started to appear when I select a Forum item to read. I then have to close this ad before I can look at the selected item. Does anyone know if there is a way I can get rid of these ads?
Any help/guidance appreciated.

Funnily enough it happened to me when I clicked to read this thread
Been happening a few days now too.

Give Jim a donation of a good few grand and I am sure he can help you with them!

I think we all get them, TBH. Although I am still perplexed with the types of banner adverts I get. Mostly seem to be for women's clothing from Etsy and the like. No-one else uses this PC and for those that are thinking of a smart comment just don't start!
I've had adverts for personal jets too. I think someone is confusing me with a rich person.

I must be seen to have similar interest as you, Pondrew. Same type of ads seen here - weird, AliExpress type apparel.
I don’t seem to get any on my iPad though - only ever on my laptop. Maybe mobile/Safari is better at filtering out? Who knows.

I've just started getting that Grammarly one too. :headbang:

Glad you're all seeing them. I thought it was the first hint that my now unsupported Windows 8.1 Laptop was going to need replacing.

Don't worry, there will be an ad for that..........

Why are mine all adds for womens clothing and underwear though?

Before replying, think carefully about the new moderators rules please.

Target marketing mate. Just remember, never buy drugs online, see your doc for your Viagra prescription.

I'm not getting anything on the pages when opened, using Firefox browser and same on my Android phone. I do get them though on the BabyBMW.net site which started when it went over to a new platform and then the ads were terrible, you have to close the add down before you view any of the pages. I'm asuming thats how the site makes it's money by displaying tracking ads. Its never bothered me that much on my laptop as don't go on there that much, I have though downloaded (FAB Ad Blocker) app on my android phone which stopped the ads completely.

Same here. Unless I happen to look at Halfords website, then I get 24 hours of spanners and bikes.
Always a relief to get back to the thongs tbh. :D

So to get back to the technical side, the adds are browser related and nothing to do with the forum?

They're usually tracking ads relating to other websites you have visited beforehand. Get them on Facebook all the time, so earlier on was looking at some cross body bags on the Bellroy website, then went on to Facebook and I was getting ads from the Bellroy site popping up annoying saying to remind me to go back and complete my order  bloody annoying.

We use Apple equipment so Safari is our browser. There seems to be a plenty of free apps to install that claim to block these ads. But I’m not keen to install anything I don’t know much about. I’m always frightened I’m going to install something which will corrupt my equipment. Anyone got any ‘safe’ suggestions.
