Hi Folks,

I got the the GY eagle F1 fitted to the front but unfortunately the rears size (255/40/17) is on back order in the UK and I been waiting for it for 2 months now with no exact date of availability on different websites.

Basically I need some advice if I should get a different brand at the back or go for the GY eagle F1 in a different size which is compatible (245/40/17) and which is available and how it would affect looks and insurance ??!!

Thanks MrWilks, the 245 are available. I am after the 255 which are not available !!!

Yes mate ,if you need rears & want to stay matching (which i assume from your post you do ) then id go for the 245 40 17 Goodyears /
Make no difference to the cars handling & only 1% difference on speedo reading
Why would you need to inform the insurance ? Do you tell them what pressures you are running ?

Do you need tyres right now? I.e. are yours still legal? If yes than hold out. If not then you don't really have much choice but going for something else.

Hi,
I had the same issue earlier this year when I needed my front tyres changed having found a bulge on the inner sidewall (lucky escape). I had just changed the rears to F1's and wanted the same on the front but was told they were on back order for a month.
Found a pair after looking on 'Mr Tyre' seems some places bulk buy and store.
Try as many places as you can, ring to confirm they have stock, with any luck you'll find a pair.

Hi Guys

I finally managed to get my rears changed and I opted for the same tyres( GY Eagle f1) in the 245/40/17 :)

I got the job done at f1autocentres which I find very competitive compared to blackcircles and tyreleader they would even match the prices !!!

Now its time for the tracking which is a nightmare !!!! I have to drive all the way from Berkshire to Essex to get it done !!
