I fancy going to this in 2012 (29 June - 1 July) as I've never been before.

Thinking of a week-end ticket and camping, and will hopefully convince my brother and a few local forumites to travel down from the north.

Anyone else fancy it, and any tips from those who have been before?

p.s. When enquiring about camping pitches I got this reply which might be useful to others when asking if the pitches would accommodate 2 cars and 2 tents : "Thank you for your email and expressing interest in Goodwood Festival of Speed. You are able to have two cars on your pitch and also your two tents as long as they fit. The size of the pitch is 9 by 7 meters. I hope that helps. Kind Regards, Martin Salisbury Goodwood Event Ticket Office"

I'll be going with Mrs bigshurv. We haven't decided whether to go fri night or early sat am.We're going to wimp out and find a hotel though. ( We found out that our tent leaks this summer!!!)

I fancy this one mate never been before either, took my tent and kit with me when I went to see the car to check it would fit inside. Great thing about tents is you can get as pissed as you like and not fall down the stairs!

Been a couple times including this past year, well worth the weekend...
I might have to back next year....
Enjoy!

I've never camped but have been many times before. If it is your first time then you'll definitely need to be there the whole weekend to appreciate everything because it is so large.

I tend to split the three days into three areas I can concentrate on.

1. Going round the paddocks, seeing all the cars and meeting the crews/drivers. I'll do the bottom of the course in the morning and then ones at the top by the rally stages later in the day.

2. Look around all the other attractions not directly related to the cars going up the hill. That includes all the manufacturer's stands, the shops, amusements, driver's lounge autograph hunting and distractions like the Bowlers.

3. Spend a day watchng the cars on the hill and the rally stage doing their thing.

they'll probably be running a moving motor show on the Thursday as well and you can normally pick up a free ticket from one of the national papers to give you an extra day too.

Also, its a bit of an extravagence but I do like getting a roving grandstand ticket so I get the best views and some shelter from the rain if it comes.

It's a truly great weekend, although people who've been for years will complain it's got a bit big, overpriced and over crowded. However if you have any interest in cars, which of course you have, you'll love it.

Cheers all - might have to have a forum meet on site ;) Bradders I'll look forward to seeing you if you get b&b sorted soon 'cos no doubt they'll book up early. Buying my tickets soon :)

Really enjoyed going for the first time this year, went on a friday to avoid the crowds and get around more easily. Did post some pics in a previous thread if any of you that haven't been before want a taster. http://www.z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=28705&p=393386&hilit=+goodwood#p393386
Tempted to go next year but may actually do the Revival instead. I'm not sure FOS will live up to my expectation after the first one i went to was so good.
Would recommend it to anyone though :)

FOS is one of the best car events you can ever go to. The atmospher is just so special compared to most meets. Being able to get up close and personal to some truely pricless metal is such a privelage. I'l be going again this year for sure. Probably on the Thur or Fri, as the weekend is getting a bit crowded the past few years.

Sat & Sunday can be a bit hectic, Friday considered by those I know who go to be the best day but Saturday worked out just fine.

One of he best car day outs in Europe, where all those million dollar cars over the ages aren't hidden behind razor wire... if you've never been before and it's sunny, you'll have a fab time.

Just remember u can only buy tickets online, not allowed to buy them on the gate
