Well my local stealer put a request in for me to get some replacement 108's

Result is BMW are offering to cover 80% of the cost of the wheels but not the fitting costs.

It means hey are putting £1400 towards the cost and I would need to pay £556

The thing is I have heard that a refurb would be about half the cost so do you think I should just go for a refurb ?
 
Whats you warranty situation?

I had mine replaced twice, once in three year warranty, and once outside of warranty. I just had to promise I wouldn't come back a third time. :D
 
Theres a really good wheel refurbishment just off spaghetti junction (M6 Birmingham) took my wheels there a few times and its £50 a wheel.. Easily best place ive been.. Think they called Lap-Tab

50 notes a corner? Bloody hell that's cheap. You sure they do it properly for that (ie tyre off then split rim into 2 pieces first then refurb and reassemble with a balance)? I would expect to pay towards a ton a corner for a pukka job on 108s.

Personally I think £550 quid to BMW's £1,400 is a goer if you're getting brand new genuine BBS wheels fully fitted. If they don't want the old ones back get them refurbed and flog em to recover some cash.
 
Not sure about the 108's.. I just had some 17" BBS on the renault sport and they charged £50 a wheel.. That was going back 3 years ago ive managed to stray away from kerbs more since then but the website offers quotes and they are really good.. They do diamond cutting which i no will bring a quality finish

I have 108s that need some love and was considering going for an exchange for refurbished anthracite on my (Maldives Blue) car... 8)

What do you reckon, are they well known/any good?

They will want the old wheels. Supposedly they have to put an angle grinder through them.

I've been quoted £100 per wheel for a full split and refurb of 108s so for the extra peace of mind I would go with the offer of a new set.

New 108's... worth every penny

To me a refurbed set are better than a new set. If you have a new set you will have to take them off before the council start gritting the roads in the winter as the polished rim will last about 5 mins.

How do you work that out?

I never had an issue with the polished lip on mine. It was always the inners that started to go. Although you had to remove the wheel to see any of the corrosion BMW still replaced twice. This was probably the worst mine got.

Thanks for the feedback, £556 is still a lot of money does anyone know how much fawheels charge for 108s I think I saw somewhere you can exchange for reconditioned wheels if this is true as it would save having to use donor wheels

Just what ive seen on most Z4's with 108's. After all you have had to replace yours twice....

It happens with all BMW polished lips, both my fiancés Cooper S's with JCW alloys corroded on the rims no matter how frequently we washed and sealed them.

There wouldn't be a problem if BMW didn't lacquer over the metal.


Just my opinion. I supposed £500 is not a bad contribution for a new set, what would BMW do if corrosion happened again?

That's what I wonder guess I should ring them to see what warranty I would get with them

I'm thinking about giving them a try, you take your car down, pay them £400, they swap your tyres on to refurbished rims and away you go. :driving:

£396 with your wheels for exchange. On his ebay page he has 2 sets, one with painted Crome rim and oem silver centres, basically look oem and a gunmetal set.
