Goodbye from a troublesome Z

Well the time has come.... after recently having my 'trusty' Z recovered again with a throttle issue, I have decided enough was enough and finally get rid. I truly love the car, but its unreliability was getting to be a bit of an issue....

I think I had a bit of a 'Friday car' and I know most out there are good runners, however, in the 3 years (25k) of ownership I've had:

2x Throttle body actuators,
2x Dampers
4x Springs
2x random faults with erratic running on the motorway (requiring recovery) which sorted themselves out.
3x window regulators
God knows how many bushes
central locking issues (GM5)
bonnet alarm randomly going off
faulty loom for brake lights
coolant expansion tank
radiator hoses
map thermostat
replacement amp
CD changer not working
glove box lock jammed locked
centre tail light, christ I must be on number 5!
broken cup holders

Even after all that, she's still a lovely piece of kit and I will be really sorry to see her go... One last beauty shot...

So, in the interests of being sensible with my money (hahahahah) and requiring 4 seats as well as big boot.... Say hello to my new toy.... M6

Interlagos blue with white leather, every toy under the sun and a full service history. Even got some nice Shnitzer mods, like the front lip and the boot lip. Carbon fibre roof and 500+ BHP...

Going to pick her up on Wednesday all things going to plan.... so excited!!!!!

Oh my oh my...........

if your thought you Z was flaky on reliability and costs.......lol..

True, the gearbox has its issues, but I need to stay positive! haha!

Warranty is definitely going to be sought, I've heard really good things about AA's warranty, a guy at work swears by his!

Did you trade-in the zed or sell private?

Part X'd, well, will be on Wednesday... Got a fair price, they only knocked me down £250 from what I wanted, but took £500 off the windscreen on the M6, so can't complain!

Great looking car - just be careful with the AA warranty I had an alternator replaced using it in February this year they were complete arseholes ! they would only allow 15 min inspection time and just 1 hour to replace the alternator !! The garage invoiced me for 2 hours which I considered fair bearing in mind a rusty nut and bolt can be time consuming but the AA argued over the the additional cost which was about £30 - very dissapointing !

Oh thats good information, I shall be sure to rattle their cage about times for jobs then!

Anyone got any other recommendations on good warranty people??

Talk about out of the pan and in to the fire !
I just hope thats a Monday car and not another Friday one, as thats going to be far more expensive to sort.

Fingers Crossed.

lovely motor, always had a soft spot for the 6 series....
For warranty, steer away from Warranty Direct. PITA to deal with, took them 6 weeks to approve a steering issue, was sat in the garage all the time, Soper's were going to charge me rent!

Also with WD, even after they approve the repair, you have to pay the bill in full then put in the claim and WD then take a wear and tear amount off depending on age and mileage (and if there's a Friday in the month...).

Only one I've heard good things about has been BMW/Mondial....

Nice looking M6,I had what was termed as "breakdown warranty cover" with the AA,then the car broke down and they wriggled and squirmed their way out of it quoting all the small print and clauses saying I had not followed the correct procedure (which I was sure I had coz the AA breakdown man told me the way to go),I immediately cancelled all my policies with them. Conmen and liars.

have to say your new M6 looks great, and 500 hp !!!
Re. warranty,I would look online at unbias reviews and find one that way(money saving expert.com prob worth a try)...def worth spending some time checking them out to find a good one
