Good will pass it on?

So, I was in Bristol today and I parked my g29 in a small car park.
In drives this lovely A reg 5 series classic.
Gent turns to me and says. I haven’t got your luxury!
I said that he has a beautiful car and a real gem. He says it hasn’t been driven in 30 years and he has been slowly restoring it. I said, you need new badges as they are completely worn out. He says it’s on the list, but slowly but surely he will get there.

Now, I know people will say I’m a mug, but I had two badges that came off my car and I just gave them to him there and then. He offered me money, but I said just pass on the good will to others. He couldn’t believe it and just kept saying thank you.

Times are hard, I could sell the badges, but the look of joy on this guys face was priceless.

So am I a mug?

Thanks. I need the good karma. My car has been vandalised and then hit twice in the space of a month.

Sounds like a perfect transaction as you're both very happy!

It made me remember of a time when I was in Malaga and attempted to pay for a bus ride with a note. The bus driver said I needed to pay in change. A spanish lady behind me in the queue then tapped her card on the payment reader for me. Not as generous as your gift but the gesture was very much appreciated.

Fast forward a couple of years near in Crawley and I'm behind a foreign air stewardess trying to pay a bus driver £50(!) for a short bus ride and he is saying the same thing to her. I just ignored her and she got off the bus. Only joking! I tapped my card on the payment reader and she was grateful and I explained the same thing had happened to me in the past and someone kindly paid for me.

I think everyone in the story was happy with the generosity given and received and I sure you and the guy with the A reg 5 series are too!

Whoops, just seen this...maybe you're not that happy then! That's a pain, sorry to hear that.

Good on you

and sorry to hear about your troubles, did your car camera catch the %£&*”@# who cut your cables?

Lovely gesture, well done.

My 718 came with monochrome wheel centres so a few weeks after buying it I went into the dealers and got a quote for the coloured ones. Of course, being Porsche they generated a paper quote. Looked at the price and almost collapsed.
Salesman who sold me the car noticed me and wandered over to ask if he could help with anything. Told him why I was in, he had a quick look about then said to me quietly "follow me."
Went over to his desk and he quietly slipped me four brand new coloured ones, explained a customer bought monochrome ones the day he picked up his car and left these behind.

Of course now I know how cheaply they can be picked up off Aliexpress. There is a thread on the Boxster forum about it and quite frankly none of us can tell the difference.

Did the badges off your G29 fit the old 5-series, as BMW have a habit of changing sizes/fittings all the time!

Funnily enough they were exactly the same size!
Not sure about fitting, but I can’t help with that.

Just wanted someone to have a good day. I guarantee you he will be telling people what happened and maybe others will do the same.

That’s really kind. There is not enough of it in the harsh world we live in.👍
