Good owners club to join?

I wouldn't bother, as the ones that tend to offer discounts are not the best/cheapest anyway.

I'm in the BMW Car Club, but their club scheme gave me a price 20% MORE expensive than the same company before I applied the 'discount'.

The best advice I can give is to phone as many as you can in the time you have. I have a list of about 50 I try each year.

does it make that much difference to insurance?

As far as I am aware there is only one official BMW owners club in the UK. There is a link from the BMW uk website if i remember rightly.

Hi mmm-five, I'm actualy going with this insurer anyway as I plan to get a supercharger and other mods and cci seems to be the best for that. I only found out that if im a member of a club I get a 10% discount ontop, so win win.

Might as well join the BMW Car Club then, as you're also supposed get discounts on parts & labour at certain dealerships, and discounts on services from other companies.

The magazine is also quite a good read at times. Not high quality journalism but some informative articles.

I'm a director of the club (the BMW Car Club) and just wanted to let you folks know about some of the things we do, insurance is one but there are lots of others.

Some folks on Twitter are thinking of joining up just to get discounts on track days (two track days will see your money back) and as stated above there are insurance schemes but you can never say you are the cheapest/best as insurance is VERY individual.

We have everything from a fantastic (award winning) club magazine called "Straight Six" (see a few old copies here: (http://issuu.com/bmwccgb) through to an annual champagne run and everything in between including up to 20% off genuine BMW accessories (how much might you save on a set of winter wheels and tyres I wonder...) and I mustn't forget to mention the National Festival which takes place at Gaydon every summer, it's one of, if not the, largest collection of BMW's in Europe!

You can see photos from some of the events we run on flickr (http://www.flickr.com/photos/bmwccgb/collections/), we also have a Facebook page (http://tinyurl.com/5uvp2tm), Twitter (https://twitter.com/#!/BMWCCGB), YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/user/BMWCCGB), Blog (http://bmwccgb.blogspot.com/), and, mustn't forget, our main web site (http://www.bmwcarclubgb.co.uk/) and forum! (http://www.bmwccgbforum.co.uk/)

The forum isn't as busy as this one but that's because everyone wants to see stuff relating to their own model, and that's fine, that's where forums like this one come into their own.

By way of encouragement we are offering members of this forum 1 years membership for £40, waiving the £5 joining fee if you mention this post when you call the club office on 01225 709009 (Mon-Fri 10am to 4pm).

This Offer valid until the end of June 2011for UK & NI postcodes but we may extend if it's popular.

Any questions just shout!

Cheers,
Darren.
