Good news: Well after reading all the positve feedback on the Falken Fk452 I got rid of those dreadful Bridgestone run craps and today Event Tyres supplied and fit a set for £348 all in a good price I'm sure you would agree :-) Bad news: Zed needs an mot so off to the garage and what a difference the 452's make to those run craps. 2 hours later call from garage zeds failed mot something to do with rear springs! I'm not sure if I'm being had over but it's going to cost in excess of £200 oh well! :-(

Sounds like rear spring snapped common fault on the Z4

add yourself to the list :(

Hurrah for Falkens!
Booo for rear springs :(

Rear springs fracturing is unfortunately common on Z4s, have a look for the thread "Broken Springs" (edit... which has been linked while i was typing, cheers guys who aren't as lazy as me ;))... mine failed it's MoT recently for the same thing.

The springs themselves are around £77 from a stealer (with a 10% discount applied... make sure they give you the discount, they know they break!), fitting is fairly easy so a decent garage shouldn't charge you that much (my indy told me that he fits both for £60). So around £200 is what you would expect to pay if both have gone.

Alternatively, you can get a set of 4 Eibach springs for just about £185... they lower the car slightly (about 15mm for a 3.0, 30mm for smaller engines), apparently improve the ride quality a little and are less likely to break again. Of course you'd then have to pay more labour (fitting twice as many springs and the fronts are harder to do) and would then have to get the alignment sorted. So it would cost a bit more, but if you wanted to put the better springs on, now's the time really! :)
