Hi everyone,

Well done on such a great forum. My first post here!

I have read most of the threads and still shifting through some old ones.

I just got a Z4 3.0i Sport 2004 and pretty impressed with it.

Its done 49K miles as is in absolutely mint condition.

Its running 17" wheels which is perfect for unsprung mass as it will be used mainly for spirited driving and the occasional track day.

Apart from removing the foam from the sound generator (mod no1 for any Z4 3.0), I also staggered a bit the ride by increaseing the width of the rear tyres from 225/45 to 245/40, on the original 8J alloy wheels and so far the improvement has been positive with slightly better grip but also a slightly faster steering feel.

I will be setting her up geometry wise after changing the front bushes and stabilizer links today so will report on any modifications carried out to her.

I got her a Xenon kit (dipped beam 4300K) for improved night time driving which i will install once it arrives int he post and also got her a Parrot 9200MKii system for overall improvement in the sound and modern comfort.

I have also refurbished the leather interior at a leather restorer including any scuffs on the he steering wheel, so she is looking prim and proper.

Eventually the plan is to also refurbish the wheels.

The top most mod on my mind after fitting the Xenons would be to mod the front lights for the modern feel, but as most expressed here, sourcing a set of clears requires a mortgage so i am really at a loss on what to do there. THe other option is to get the non OEM clear headlights on fleabay but I am not sure if they will make the car look cheap.

Any thoughts and suggestions, or even better criticism from your side is appreciated.

It has the wood detailing in the interior which initially was going to remove but in reality it grew on me and my missus likes it too so it will stay.

Looks like a nice motor!
By the sounds of it you have already caught the Z4itus bug! Good to hear!

The Parrot is a nice addition. I have the same setup there and cant fault it. I love the Dual option on it so i can have the phone on it but also play music from the ipad aswell, both over bluetooth... Handy!
The sound generator foam think was the first thing i did to mine too and love the extra sound in the cabin! Some think it pointless to just hear it louder in the cabin and not outside, but i like it!
Headlights is a toughfy! One of mine has given up the ghost and i am not sure weather to replace the 2 with non oem (angel eye) or to just replace the one... Guess it comes to personal preference, im just not sure yet what mine is!!

WELCOME to the forum too!!
More pics wouldn't go a miss!!

Hi Luke!

I have as many pics as you want!

The issue with the non OEM angel eyes is a tough one.

Are there any pics of cars with them?

I would really like to see them on as many different cars as possible before i decide.

Do they vary in quality.... also are right hand drive versions available? (or standard)

Your grill looks superb! I think that mod goes hand in hand with the headlights!

WOW cannot believe that is an 04 plate with 49k on the clock! looks factory new, especially the interior. I can only imagine how much its going to suck when you get your first scratch or stone chip!

Was there not somebody on here recently who bought all the components needed to de-ginger but decided against it so was selling them?

Oh and welcome by the way :D

Hi RLiu, yes its all factory paintwork bar the rear bumper.

I checked it with the paint meter and it has as new readings all over so will be detailing it in the near future.

p.s. anyone care to comment re size of rear tyres - maybe anyone tried different sizes? to remind you i left the standard 225/45 fronts on 8J wheels and 245/40 at 26psi on the 8J wheels at the rear.

Hi and welcome to the forum, a lovely looking Z, even with the wood veneer trim, first it thought mmmmm, but on a 2nd look it's growing on me too

Thanks for all the warm wishes.

Installing new aftermarket front bushes as well as drop links right now.

Also doing both sets of pads. Discs still have some meat left.

Will do the geometry and report back.
