What would you lot out there say about the mods you had done?
Post GOOD and BAD mods from pennies to thousands things you
thought would look good but looks pants engine mods that don’t deliver
That sort of thing
And good mods that have come out better then you thought

Ok, I'll kick off...

Good mods:

Heavier BMW Gearknob
Stubby Aerial (looks great)
Zeckhausen auto roof mod
IceLink Ipod interface
Goodyear Eagle F1 tyres (ok, not so much a mod, but great!)
Side indicators (repeaters) de-oranged

Bad mods:

Stubby Aerial (reception not great)
Kerb marks on 3 of my wheels

Supreme mods:
anything from http://www.leatherz.com

Excellent mods:
Strut Tower Brace
Aero bumper kit
Short Shifter
Chromed Brake Caliper Springs
Clear Bra
Non-RFT tires

Marginal value mods:

Any Aftermarket Cold Air Intake
20" chromed rims on cheap tires

I believe that all mods are good because they individualize the car. Some have dubious value but what the hell, it ain't your money anyway.

LeatherZ is high on my list for excellent mods and customer service and another source for mods with excellent customer service is Roadster Solution...
http://www.roadstersolutions.com/
Note: Dick Leinbach who is the owner of Roadster Solutions is also an active member of Eastern PA ZSCCA.

It's more like planned mods for me, but I don't want to do anything major.

The Leatherz armrests look tempting, although the center rest looks a little tall.
I notice they do the clear indicators and brake light for a reasonable price too. I need to replace my third brake light but I'm not sure if I want to go white or stick with red.

Is there anywhere in the UK that sells Z4 accessorys for a sensible price?

I like the glass wind deflector, having seen one on a car I test drove, it's nice to have a clear view through the rear.

I'd also like some of the cup holders posted in another thread, I may have to order some whilst the old folks are out in the US.

Do many people have rubber floor mats? I'd like to keep my carpet mats clean and dry but I may just make sure my shoes and clean and dry when getting in.

Good mods:
IceLink
Alpina badges
GruppeM Intake (oh the noise through the London tunnels this morning!)

Bad mods:
stonechips in the bonnet
TV (I didn't put this in, came with it. I just don't see the point)

Helene Air Filter was an ok mod but now defunct as I've ditched the airbox.

Clear bra :scratchhead: What the hell is that........pixs pls

Good mods:

upgrade sat nav to 3D and camera sites
custom made exhaust system- oh the noise especially in tunnels is incredible :D
LeatherZ centre console. looks good as is superb quality.
Removal of 'M' badges from sides of car.
Belkin remote i-pod link- excellent sound (don't really need fancy 'Hi-Fi' in a roadster with a loud exhaust!)

Bad mods:

Changed decals from blue to red to match car. Peel off after a while -looked OK on. Binned now.
'M' logo on floormats- looks a bit cheap and I've left an iron imprint on the carpet
LeatherZ soft top corner covers-can't be bothered using them. Look good on though.
Stubby aeriel looked good but reception was poor. (not good for bluetooth and i-pod link)
LeatherZ centre console. Not ideal for fast shifts and is stopping me getting a shift machine gear knob or similar.

My Good mods:

Stubby Aerial
Side indicators Clear
3rd Brake light Clear
Home made Wind Deflector with word ROADSTER etched on.
Replaced the RFT

Dealer mods:

Changed to daytime run lights.
Had indicator lights flash and horn chirp when Zed is locked.

Bad mods:

Non so far but I consider any mod that can not be reversed to stock easily, a bad mod.

A note on LeatherZ

My wife got me the clear indicators and 3rd brake light package. LeatherZ did a great job of getting the stuff here on time for Father’s day, but getting the damn side indicators off was not as easy as the instructions say. WELL should have been the previous owner GLUED one of them on the holder. :headbang: I had to pry the holder off and then chip the actual indicator frame off to replace it. The other side went as planned easy. Not LeatherZs fault.

But she also ordered the first aid kit. They evidently do not supply the original BMW first aid kit any longer and provided a plastic bag with supplies. The picture on the web page in other words, does not match what you get. I wanted the cheesy red bag. They took it back and refunded my money very nicely so I am a happy customer as the other products I got were outstanding for the price. :)

Good mods:

- Storm Gear knob
- Intravee iPod link
- Stubby aerial
- Teflon paint protection
- RPI Ram intake
- Replacement motorsport air filter

In progress - Reinhold roof module

Bad mods:

None

You know, the second time I read the title of this thread I started to think about ovrkll, WLH, Color, etc. Should we categorize forum mods? :fuelfire:
