Good Machine Polisher?

After a little research on here & detailing world, I have decided to go for a PC 7424 mechanical polisher - but I'll be buggered if I can find them for sale in the UK.... :headbang: All the references within the UK that I can find are a couple of years old - is there a newer model that has replaced it?

In the US, they now have a 7424xp. Doesn't look like it's changed much. http://www.autogeek.net/porter-cable-7424xp.html

You have to consider import tax etc.
In the uk there is options already set up for our 240volt sockets so no lugging a 110volt invertor around with you
The PC7424 is extremely old hat ( and a bloody noisey old croc at that )and has the same form of torque as the kestral DAS6 which you can get from www.cleanyourcar.co.uk for a meare £85.
For a higher torque motor and better correction work via DA maybe consider the DAS6 pro with its 850watt motor its the most powerfull DA to date.

I have a DAS6 and think it's great. However having just detailed my coupe I feel that something more powerful is required to deal with BMW paint. So I'm either going to go rotary or get one of the DAS6 Pros.

Here's an example of what the pro can do

I have a DS6 and have used my it on black 2.0l, yes the paint work is hard and takes time to achieve a good finish, I am not experienced enough to use a rotary which can do damage if you are not careful, I used a Mequires 7.5 inch yellow polishing pad with Menzerna power gloss S100, poorboys black hole glaze and then waxed with poorboys natty blue, it gave me some nice results.

Looks superb i really need to get into machine polishing but trying to polish a silver car in natural light is a no go

I have just looked at your reflection post, not sure you need a machine, excellent results on difficult colour, well done

Thanks mate  but its just going that one step further for an even better finish like you have in the pic

@ eleflo.
Looks cracking the only bit of advice I would give is after power gloss use a finishing pad and PO85re ( or rd, always get the letters mixed up lol ) then blackhole it as in time the unrefined paint will show through due to blackhole being a filler heavy glaze.

@Gaz.
Gtting on the machine polishing band wagon isnt too daunting matey and to get the best results from polishing get a set of halogen lights from somewher like screwfix, they only cost around £15 and really help show the imperfections.

Thanks scott but tried that route Halogen lights Brinkman but no joy outside.

Silvers are a bit awkward to get the imperfections to stand out.
Maybe a gazeebo which will darken the area then the halogens will project better otherwise im stumped :?

Thanks all - the DAS6 Pro looks like it's gonna be the latest addition in my ever growing addiction of detailing! I've seen a few deals which include pads, polishes etc... where you save 10% or so - but im not sure if these are the right bits, or if they are going cheap just cos they want to get rid of them.

Bearing mind I'm a noob to machine polishing, can anyone give me a few quick tips on what I should be starting with?

This kit should be what your after.
The sonus pads are a touch more forgiving than menzerna pads and will last longer.
Menzerna polishes are by far the best for tougher paints like VAG/bavarian etc.

Take it slow and enjoy the experience.
