I bought my 04 Z4 privately and saved a packet on the retail price. Its 45k and in amazingly good condition. The seller said he had waited until the extended warranty expired before he sold it. I have read the posts on here about the various things that can go wrong with Z4's and whilst they seem generally reliable, I was a bit worried that if something major went wrong, I'd have to fork out. I called BMW Warranty and spoke to a helpful fella who asked for the vehicle registration number and confirmed that the previous owner had taken out the extended warranty and also (which was reassuring) that the car had not had any major warranty claims. He offered to reisnstate the warranty for £39.00 (on a monthly direct debit until I decide I dont want it anymore) and whilst it might sound a lot at first, I am now much less stressed about anything going wrong. It has the usual service type conditions and exclusions but I'm happy with that, even taking this into account, it was cheaper to but privately and reinstate the BMW warranty. Just thought I'd share this incase anyone wants to do the same.

Good deal on BMW Warranty

As my BMW Approved Used Warranty runs out in a few days time, I've just taken out the comprehensive BMW Insured Warranty without the international breakdown cover and with £100 excess for £31 per month. Thought it rather a good deal and it seems to cover everything except wear and tear items as expected. About the only thing it doesn't cover that the AU Warranty did is things like seals etc, which I guess degrade quicker as the car gets older. Mine is a 2005 3.0i SE.

That sounds even better and I would even consider a higher excess, say 250, to lower my premium. Do you know if that was possible?
£250 excess was available , it took it down to £25/£26 I think.. thought I'd rather pay another £5 a month as I've had a few issues with the old gal under warranty and figure I may end up using the warranty a fair bit! Best to call them really, 0871 200 0199.
yep, they offered me a higher excess to reduce the premium but TBH I reckoned a fiver extra made sense.
