Well as you may know as per my thread my z suffered a bump

However thanks to the support of the members on here I have had her all fixed without having to risk a writeoff. Picked him back up this morning and was like a kid on Christmas until the body shop told me he cant get the passenger xenon to light! Heated discussion later I set off in search of the least helpful auto electrician.

Having no faith in him I returned home armed with my mac and the trusty power of searching the forum I re stripped the front end of the car to investigate.
I now have one water damaged xenon control module sat in my kitchen :headbang:

So do I hope it dries out or do i bite the bullet and buy a second hand replacment from ebay?

All ideas welcome- nearly back zedding!
 
I know it's not quite the same but I dropped my phone in a pool, left it there for an hour before I realised it then when I recovered it it was screwed! You could actually see the water behind the glass! Anyhow a couple of days sat on top of my boiler and its the very same phone I'm typing on now.... So if you aren't in a rush try and dry it out so long as the electrics aren't fried could be as good as new

Cheers- I'm hopeful it will dry if not they arent vastly expensive- just was gutted as i was so excited to have my z back and was gutted it wasn't right.
On the plus side I did get to drive it again and it is home at least!

May as well give it a couple of days to dry out, but if that's the only thing still wrong then hopefully you will be back hooning soon :driving:

Hope so Ruth- missed it so much and want to use it as my wedding car in 2 weeks!
 
Wedding Car - that's such an awesome idea
Fingers crossed it all gets sorted - and Congratulations :D
 
Give it a couple of days - you may be lucky. I wasn't so replaced mine with a unit on eBay, cost around £70 with a 12 month guarantee.

You also need to find the source of the water ingress - badly sealed rear access hatches are the usual culprits!
 
Thanks for all the replies- I have had the light in the house overnight and it seems reasonably dry now. The ingress must have been due to a small crack not sealed up following the repairs to the housing by the body shop. I have now but silicone sealant over this crack and hope this holds! will test the module again today to see.
