Short an introduction as possible...........

My brother owns a terraced property in Bournemouth which he rents out to good tenants (10 years). My brother lives in Taiwan.

He’s now called me to inform me he needs a whole new roof (slate) and will also re roof the single storey extension while is at it.

I’m taking care of his Planning & Building Regs

So chaps I’m looking for any SOLID recommendations for a reputable builder.

Don't know any roofers in Bournemouth, Brian, but from experience I would look for specialist slate roofers. Your average roofer will say they can do slate, but it is much more of an artform than concrete or clay. I know because I have done it and employed roofers who wasted many, many expensive slates. I ended up finishing the slating myself!

I’m aware of that Pondy

This was only a brief tele call yesterday as my brother was having a knee jerk reaction

He’s just worried at the moment as he is nowhere near. Once he has emailed me all the details I can go from there. My first port of call will be to the planners to find out if slate needs to be used. If not then that’s a saving right there and then more roofers can quote.

I think (crosses fingers) the worse case scenario is my driving down on a Thursday and having a weekly site meeting on a Friday.

Take a look on the National Federation of Roofing Contractors as they will be able to recommend a decent roofer
