Gone and done it!

Well, it's happened. Though i'm not into modding cars, and although i said i wouldn't, i've gone and got the stubby. I'm sure i've just disappointed a lot of people by crossing over to the stubby side... soz. Only a very minor mod, but still a big thing i reckon. Pretty chuffed with it too :D

I kind of cheated a bit with the badges. I wasn't sure what a change of colour would look like, or if i would like it, so didn't want to spend a load of money getting a full set of badges. Instead i got one of those vinyl kits with the badge sizes already cut out, was something like £8, with all sorts of colours to choose from. One set does every badge on the car, with a few spare too.

like the mod. just done the same myself. Havent had any reduction in radio reception like some have. Have you noticed any difference?

Regarding the radio reception, i don't really listen to it much. This was my main reason for changing to the stubby, aesthetics more than anything.

The badges - they've been on a couple of months now, and no sign of them peeling off. You actually have to look hard to tell that it's vinyl stuck over the original colour... unless you've got a wonky hand when putting them on. It's my daily drive, so we'll see how they fair over the winter months, especially on the wheels.

I wasn't too sure when i first ordered the badge vinyl, thought it could look amateurish, but for only a few quid i gave it a go. Got to say, it does do the job quite nicely if you fancy a non-permanent change.

Being a proud whip owner  I have to say that I think the stubby looks right on the rag top  think your badges are cool

I recently went to the 'stubby' side too and did notice the radio is worse but I mostly use iTunes anyway.

Nice red/white badges!

Cheers for the good reviews on the badge stickers, i'll get a couple more pics of them later today.

Not sure where most of you guys got your stubbys from, mine was £8.95 inc postage from ebay. I can imagine it's one of the easiest and cheapest little mods to do. As for that slippery slope to more modding... we'll see :driving:

Ditched my stubby, poor reception. Now back to a whippy. Brilliant reception, I listen to the radio all the time so it is functionality over asthetics for me. :P

I think the stubby looks great on a roadster. But I can't make my mind up when it's on the coupe. I think both the stubby and whippy look good but I can't decide which is better.

Here are a couple of closer pics of the vinyl on the badges. Only the red is coloured vinyl, so you can go for just about any colour combo you want - including the carbon look. Just make sure you give the surface a proper clean before positioning the vinyl, if you don't like it, then you can simply peel them off.

I've done the same mod to mine. My research found that this is the AM antenna. The FM antenna is someplace else in the car. I don't hardly listen to AM much at all. Just did a 180 mile road trip this last weekend and didn't notice any difference in FM reception.

Tried the radio this morning for the first time since i put the stubby on last weekend - no problem with reception at all :D :driving:
