Golf T mod... Nah... Screw it! (literally)

I hear a lot about the exhaust tone with the vacuum actuator unplugged so i thought why not give it a try. Popped off the tube and gurgle gurgle, love it, and no so much to annoy but just that much louder to make me smile

So I think ok, no golf T's in the toolbox, but have some torx screws. Long enough not to be dragged back up the vacuum pipe, with a head smooth and large enough to wedge in the pipe just like a golf T. Popped in the screw, pushed it in about half an inch nice and tight, re-attach, lovely sound, job done.

Have a long drive tomorrow to test it out nicely, so if it drones, out will come the screw no harm done.

Little things eh?

cool... let us know how you get on..

have also been reading about removing foam in the General forum... it appears to be in a 'sound generator' which looks like it is part of the air intake on the old style z4... but cant find out if you can do it on the e89

No sound generator on e89 as far as I know... They did it properly on the e89, louder exhaust!

I had an e85 and did the sound gen mod. Only you can hear the difference as the sound is on the intake and is fed into the cabin via a tube. No difference to the exhaust sound, and while it sounds good in the cab, it doesn't sound right when you lift off the gas.. Not like the dual exhaust pop and crackle you get on the e89 (35i).
