awesome, beautiful country, had many happy trips up there

Thanks. I am not even sure if what we are doing is possible. It "should" work out at about 5 hours driving a day and the rest will be eating a sight seeing.

My missus has been obsessed with Achmelvich Beach, ever since I showed her the pictures. I am hoping the roads up there are as good as they look.

On those roads the miles and hours just pass by, it's such a joy driving them. The M6 M74 will be the hard part. Have a great weekend. :driving:

Thanks Buzyg, We probably can't squeeze any more in this trip but would love some suggestions of other places to visit up there.

You can watch the seals in Ullapool. We stayed there on two Highlander forum runs, great, great roads with nice sweeping bends.

You are going to hate me for this, but my absolute favourite bit of the whole North Coast 500 was Assynt - the most southerly part of which is Achmelvich. Blew my mind completely. It's also full of Germans, so you'll fit right in with the Zed.

I did similar in May & loved it , had planned the same road between Inverness & Pitlochry until a forum member recommended a route that went via Balmoral / Braemar / Glenshee through the heart of the Cairngorms , well worth avoiding the main roads for , epic roads , epic scenery & hardly any traffic at all

& if you need a overnight place near Pitlochry The Inn on the Tay is faultless

Thanks for the help peoples....!!

We are staying in Newtonmore on Saturday night. We could go back north on the Sunday and take that road through Braemar to get back to the motorway.

This was the reason I put the thread up. It's a chance to get some photos of the car and enjoy the open road. I have never had so much fun driving a car. Makes me wonder about getting a Cayman as this thing is epic.

You have some cracking roads to look forward to. :driving:

Don't worry the midges are gone although haven't been bad this year and most of the tourist traffic has died off. Schools are out this Friday but you should miss that if leaving tomorrow.

Enjoy your trip

Mr Wilks option is a good choice

We are just at Loch Lomond now. Decent drive up, 220 miles and 32 Mpg. £32 to fill back up and looking to attack the back roads tomorrow. I love this car.

Looking forward to Fort William, Ullapool and Achmelvich now.

Fort William to mallaig...45 miles of unadulterated road driving porn. Took my Honda SP2 up there every year. Taking my zed there on Saturday for overnight stay with the misses

Mallaig road is often my Sunday drive. Couple of sets of lights at the moment just so you know.

I like Mallaig too! It's gorgeous. Took the steam HP train too. Hehe

Yep , thumbs up for the Mallaig run too , also the road to Isle of Skye and then Portree, heading back via a diversion up the Applecross pass . Will be up ther again next year , just got back about two weeeks ago from a run up there:)
