Well, today we are going to tell our parents the great news. Since mid may (so 11 weeks far along now), my wife and I are expecting a new family member (first baby).
So it's kind of a scoop for the forum members  Even on Facebook we haven't revealed it yet!
About 6 weeks ago my wife noted she was 2 weeks late, which was pretty odd as we have been trying for 2 years now. And since it wasn't working out, we went to a specialised pregnancy clinic in Jette (Brussels) well-known throughout Europe. We tried all possibilities but nothing seemed to work. We still had a few trials left, and doctors were still positive, but it all wasn't very motivating.
Funnily enough, we hadn't been to the hospital since the last failure because we had to wait for my wife getting her periods again, which thus didn't come. So in the end it happened in the natural way after all.
So we took the test...
...and went back to the clinic to be sure
The sonogram was quite clear and it seemed we were already 8 weeks pregnant at that moment!
But then when you hear that heartbeat for the very first time... mine skipped a beat! That was for me the first moment I truly realised I'm going to be a dad...
So this afternoon we are having a BBQ with our parents, we wrapped these cute little things (made them online) in gift wrap stating it's a gift from our holiday last week
(Opa and Oma is Dutch for Grandpa and Grandma)
And yes, the mommy is very happy too
