Going shopping... couple of questions

Hello! So I am looking for something to replace my 1.8 mk2.5 MX5 of 5 years and after some research settled on the Z4. I'm currently eyeing up the 2006+ 2.5 Si as the best overall compromise between performance and economy (grey paint with red leather seats would be nice too, but cant be too fussy hey!). The buyers guide on here is very helpful but I have a couple of other questions:

How can I tell the difference between the 2006+ 2.5 Si and 2.5 i?
I understand common faults are rear springs and roof motor, is there any simple way to check these?
Is a couple of bubbles of corrosion on wheels anything to worry about apart from cosmetics?

I viewed my first Z4 today, a 2008 2.5 Si; engine felt great much more torque than my MX5 as you'd expect but only went on a short ride on straight roads so didn't get a great feel for the handling. Also, I didn't find the brakes very sharp but might go back for second viewing later after looking at a couple of other cars...

Cheers

i has no sport button si does... also they will usually have a logo on the side next to the indicators

roof motor well you can tell just by using it... if it goes up and down quick smart without any struggling or strange noises it should be fine.. get it relocated to the boot though asap

springs try and have look as best you can... push up and down on bonnet/boot and listen for clunking etc... check the mot history and service history see if any have been changed in its lifetime

most wheels of a certain age will have a little corrosion.... worth budgeting in a refurb on your purchase price
