Go Pro Mounting Advice

Does anyone use their Go Pro for in car filming in the zed and if so, where do you mount it? Tried the suction holder on the centre console door but because its rounded, it doesn't stay firm. Thinking I may have to permanently stick one of the 3M mounts to it but thought I would check for any other options before doing so.

Would also be interested in where people mount on the exterior.

you can pull up the center console plastic and use some of the unsued bolt holes under there to mount it.. but 3m tape on the rear centre console is the most common.

exterior mount for mine is usually on the upwards facing part of rear quarter wing, or on the front lip of the bumper, where the lower grill is.

In the coupe, I've mounted it on the hatch window looking out from between the seats.

I've also stuck it on the passenger window, the windscreen, the piano black dashboard, and on the number plate using the suction mount (with extensions of course) or on a headband and helmet using other mounts.

if you own a roadster and do euro roadtrips then invest in a flat mount, I attached it to the top of the rollbar

Do you just mean the mounts with 3M tape on them but flat rather than curved? If so I have a couple of them. Don't suppose you have a pic of it stuck on the roll bar?

Funnily enough I''ve just mounted mine last night!

I'd tried the suction cup on the rear windscreen so the camera ultimately sits just behind the headrest line of the seats at head height, but I found it didn't work well with the brightness; it picked the cabin out brilliantly but everything outside was too bright.

So I put one of the supplied 3m curved sticky mounts (I think probably supposed to be used on a helmet) on the upper part of the centre console, just above the storage compartment opening. Filmed my trip into work this morning, and it's the perfect position in my opinion :)

I'm going to Prescott Hillclimb on the weekend, and will hopefully get a couple of runs up the hill on film; I'll pop them up if you can wait that long before making a decision on locating yours?

Think that's what I will do with mine. If you have a photo of it, would be appreciated but no worries if not. I am doing a car limits day tomorrow so hoping to sort it for that. Hill climb sounds great, look forward to seeing the video.

I've got the suction mount and I switch the GoPro into upside down filming mode and then mount the suction cup next to the fixing of the rear view mirror on the front windscreen. I can hardly see the camera because the rear view mirror obscures it so it doesn't distract me at all.

I've mounted mine on the dash next to the sat Nav screen, also got a mount on the hatch so I can film traffic behind.

Here you go:

Hope that helps :)

Thanks Ed Doe

Just mounted in that exact spot after trying a few locations, had a good perspective once spot metering is on (am using 720p and 16:9, r3 on my original Hero HD)

No problem, glad it was of some assistance! You can tell I'm having a productive afternoon at work... Nipping out for important go pro location shots!

Get the videos up after the weekend too

I usually end up using the (not very creative) 3M stuck on the inside of the front window, with a lovely view of the bonnet 8)

Like this view better, suction cup on the outside of the driver side window.
