GM5 Relay sourcing

Hi all,

I replaced the two smaller relays on my GM5 - this fixed my central locking issue as expected. However I have other issues:

-power mirror adjustment hasn’t worked since I owned the car
-interior lighting does not work
-intermittent fault on power windows (can hear relay clicking, switches appear to work fine)
- loud click from relay when using windscreen wipers

I believe these two larger relays are the culprit for at least some of these issues, so I removed my gm5 today and can hear something ratting around inside them.

The text is:

TYCO V20378-C1002-A303 ++0307C

Does anyone have a place these relays can be purchased, or even better, can anyone confirm if my suspicions are correct? Thanks!

Probably not want you wanted to hear, but with those issues mounting up, would you not be better off sourcing a replacement GM5, then simply pairing your keys to it?

That’s definitely the next step if I’m unable to source the relays, I’m just a lot more confident with hardware, and haven’t dug that deep into the software of these cars yet!

I might be reaching out to you in that case, I’m based in Ireland so I’d have to figure out the coding on my own. Do you know of any good guides to the process?

I have found multiple sources with the same part number such as this:

But the “++” number is different in all cases. Does anyone know what this number refers to? Must it match for the component to work?

[ref]Corkbro[/ref], there is no real coding to do. Unbolt your module then bolt in the new one, then simply pair the keys (process described many times across this forum).
You may find some bespoke coding items have changed as the replacement module may have been set to the original owners preferences.
This is easily sorted if you get yourself Scanner 1.4 installed on a laptop.

The only thing you need to concern yourself with is the type of GM5 you have. On the label on the rear edge it should say either '5RD' or 'Star 12 Low'. Get one the same and all will be fine.

I replaced a 5RD with a STAR12 GM5 and had zero issues.

Straight change for a used one of the same type, its plug and play. As the others have pointed out some of the preferences coded in to it may not be the same as yours but that can be put right as described earlier. Used one may well develop issues due to the age they are now.
Autoelectron in Harrogate who advertise on ebay are the go to for GM5 repairs for the central locking relays is my go to, fast efficient service.
Best to contact Mervyn at Autoelectron and discuss your needs for the other relays you suspect to see if he can do those as well.
