Haven't been around for a while due to silly-busy and other bits of life getting in the way, so I thought I'd drop in for a quick status report on what's falling apart on my ancient E85 2.5i.
Actually, the car is running fine, and I have just entered my fourth year of ownership still pretty much in love with it. However ... are the electronics on these things kinda funky or is it just the luck of the draw?
It is in the shop at the moment having a few fixes done, including:
1) Replacing a faulty GM5 module (passenger door lock and fuel door lock weren't working properly).
2) Replacing a faulty transmission switch.
3) Replacing the windshield cowl trim panel (the thing with the wiper arm seals ... obviously not electronic).
4) Replacing a couple of the plastic studs that hold one of the wheel wells in place (they're just gone, and the well is crooked).
5) .. a center console screw cover and couple of other tiny details ...
That's a substantial handful of cash, but I'm really not ready to give up on the car just yet. It is around 10 years old, however, and I'm a bit apprehensive that this might be the beginning of a long string of problems that could wear down my resolve. We shall see. The engine only has around 43,000 km on it, so it should be good for many, many more (as long as the rest of the vehicle doesn't collapse around it).
When it comes back from the shop I'll poke around and tap into the fuse box to power my new dash cam (Transcend DrivePro 200).
