GM5 module replacement (central locking problems) inc Pre-facelift

a bit of a thread resurrection (is that the right term). Thx Ewazik for the instructions. finally got that stupid GM5 module out. now to get it fixed.

I glad it helped, it's not difficult you just need to be very flexible (or small) and with fingers like ET :D

An old thread but an excellent article thank you. Just followed your steps for my 2003 Z4 3.0i and had little difficulty so the GM5 will be posted off now to the Ebay repairer and hopefully my remote unlocking of the drivers door will be possible again.
I struggled a little bit with disengaging the larger black cable clip, until I restudied your photo more carefully and realised where the screwdriver needs to be located to ease it off, as a diagonal slide-off is not intuitive.
Update, 1 week later (Sep 2022) - the repaired gm5 module just refitted without any probs, and delighted to report the driver door remote lock/unlock issue is no more. Happy days.

Big shout out to Autoelectron in Harrogate

Posted my GM5 module to them on Monday
It arrived on their premises at 1pm Tuesday and they replaced the relays that afternoon and posted it back to me the same day
Here we are mid-day on Wednesday and the module is back in my car and the central locking is now working

Can't praise Merv and his team enough. They even programmed the unit to enable me to operate the roof from the key fob!

Thay know their business and also the deadlines for Royal Mail. I still can't quite believe it's back in my car after
just two days!

I found that I didn’t need to remove the second plastic nut (one at the back that is quite hard to get to) instead I just removed the closest nut and wiggled it out

Hope that helps
