Glove box interior

Can any one help I've just found on the right hand side a black cylinder with a inner cylinder inside that slides up and down which has a recessed compartment ,what is it ? An over designed pen holder ?
 
It's the damper for the glovebox. I have mine on my desk at present as it keeps coming out for some reason.
 
I broke mine slightly when trying to get to the fuses - a wee ring of plastic snapped off :(

Stuck one back in the other and it works fine.

I'm wondering if I've lost this wee ring or plastic. Have searched realoem though and no other parts are listed.
 
Def worth having... Without it the glove box will drop open.

thats a tough brake.... 2 cylinder missing and a missing glove box piston :poke:

Had to go out and check did we Andy :poke:

Did you find the two other cylinders while you were out there :evil:

Yes i had to pop out mate :oops:
I am still looking under the bonnet for the other two! :cry:

We loooooove to share our experience :wink:

I didn't notice till I pushed in the two clips that stop the glovebox falling all the way down, still couldn't drop it then gave it a good yank, heard a snap, and the plastic popped into my face :oops:

@Andy - try looking in the boot for the missing cylinders :D
