Giving my 108s some TLC

I took my Zed in for some bodywork last week and the guy mentioned that my alloys were corroded and asked if I wanted them doing too. I've got the 18" 108s on my Z4 and although they don't look too bad I'm wondering if it might be worth doing. He quoted £120 per wheel on the spot which I slightly recoiled at. I understand it's usually a pricey job because they're split rims.

Has anyone had theirs refurbed and if so what price did you get to have them done?

Ouch! Split them yourself and city wheels will do a top job for £25 a wheel.. [ref]kevbz4[/ref] will be along shortly with pics of his...

That is an insane price!

And as if by magic IMG_0245.JPGIMG_0247.JPGIMG_0390.JPGreally great job immaculate work all for £25 a wheel as mike said you would have to strip them yourself but a massive saving on £120 a wheel that is insane

Thanks! They look amazing btw.

City wheels would be a great shout. Just checked and they're doing a £20 per wheel deal right now. Birmingham is a long drive from Edinburgh though 😔

I'm gonna check with TLC Car Care and see what they charge. Apparently Peter Vardy BMW use them for all their cars.

I found a step by step diy guide someone wrote on another forum, if anyone is interested. I'd love to be able to do it myself but haven't got anywhere to work on the car at my apartment. http://www.bmw-driver.net/forum/#/topics/24597

Kev, i usually hate 108s with a passion, but for some reason with your car , the aero kit and the dark centres, they work so well

thanks guys for the complements must say I love them and they are really easy to keep clean and the finish is holding up really well will see how they hold up over the winter with it being a daily but up to now well happy

hi yes its £20 for one piece £25 for 2 piece if you strip them down and have them delivered and collected by paisley freight your only looking at £74 in freight price so still only £174 hope this helps op :D

I have just started to re furb some I purchased recently.

Despite soaking the bolts with plus gas for a few days and striking each bolt with a lump hammer I still either snapped or had all the splines explode on 16 bolts. Going to be a right arse to drill them all out.

Make sure you are under no illusions about how much of a twat the job can turn into if the bolts don't want to play ball.

If you're nervous about splitting the rims, invest in an impact driver.

I was a bit reluctant to take this job on so I bought one but then never needed it because the bolts came out without any problems.
