GiffGaff Mobile - anyone on it - discuss

Yep, giff gaff here too. No complaints - went with them predominently because I like to change phones a lot and didn't want to be tied into 24 month contracts! It works out cheaper to have bought my Galaxy Note 2 and be on the £12 a month tarrif. 8)

Theres 3 of us in the house on GiffGaff, using it for almost a year and never had a problem. Don't forget all GiffGaff to GiffGaff calls are free too. Not sure it's relevant but you won't be able to tether another device to it as the Personal HotSpot feature is disabled by default.

Works great if you jailbreak though ;)

been on giffgaff for just over a month now. suits me fine. i only use the phone for occasional calls/texts and internet. i'm on the £10 a month tariff at the moment. £12 a month less than i was paying on t-mobile, for better usage and i can now get signal in my house, FINALLY!

only thing i have a problem with is not being able to access my voicemail, but i'm not bothered by it.

I use giffgaff...it uses the o2 network.
the internets not as quick because its restricted but thats about it.
good overall for the price.
the £10 per month is enough for myself

No idea who Tesco uses, but I do a £10/month sim only contract that gets 500 mins, 5000 texts and 512mb data. As I have two of them I get free bolt ons as well.

I think since we took this out these reduced the charge and the minutes to 250 but still a good deal for daughters that text

I think they've changed the offers since I signed up. The free bolt ons give 650 mins but you get a better data allowance for the extra £2.50

A nice shiny Lenovo Helix tablet was awaiting me this morning at work - It has the feature to use a sim card (work won’t pay for this)

So is anyone aware of any deals that allows unlimited data access at a reasonable price?

Does Giffgaff have access to visual voicemail on the iPhone?

A feature I miss now I've moved to Orange and at which point discovered that only o2 did it in the UK.

Incidentally, Orange called me yesterday and asked if I wanted to upgrade to 4G data.

There will be no additional costs, just that they will reduce my 1Gb monthly data allowance to 750Mb but as I use only about 100-150 Mb a month as I am on wireless at home and work that's no issue.

All I need now is go find somewhere with a 4G signal!

Have a look at "3" at least if you can get a signal it will always be 3G

I was told at a mobile shop that although Giffgaff & Tesco use the O2 network they are considered 2nd preference service. ie: O2 users will get preferential service when the network is busy.

Has anyone noticed or heard of this being the case?

From posts I have seen elsewhere regarding GG ,yes that would figure .

Tesco is a a fully approved Apple authorised carrier with access to all Apple Carrier features including selling iPhones and unlocking
As I said cheap and cheerfully down on function that is why GG is cheap

GiffGaff is owned by telefonica, who own 02, so its not really leasing part of the line like Tesco do, it owns the line (so to speak).
Also do networks really get busy? I live and work in around London and the Only times i had issues with a busy network is 12:02am most newyears days, and during the London bombings of 2005 sadly, other wise iv never had a issue.
