If that is the one that went for £981 then you must be gutted, cos that is a good deal
I got mine for £1,015 last year - lots of bids around £1,000 at the time

Maybe next set a higher max price, don't mention your bidding on it, everyone else looks then, don't talk with the owner and organise to pick up if successful. Just a thought

Always thought the same if you advertise that you are looking at it and are serious other people see this and know their competition, also the seller will be bumping up the price too.

Exactly what happened mate, it's a buyers Market given economic climate so can't blame seller trying to get as much as possible :)

Zander,

if you see one which you really want, why don't you contact the seller and ask if you can do a deal rather than waiting to see if you'll win or not.

as I always think, there is no harm in asking/trying.

Although you will lose the ebay protection for the sale but if its cash on collection, this shouldn't be a problem

well .......... I paid a bit over the top, 1100 quid, but I got what I wanted ......... and

I regularily buy stuff offa ebay - but I use a snipe program called bidburglar dot com, you put in the maximum price you want to pay, and it bids on your behalf 4 seconds before the end of the auction - firstly it means you never end up paying more than you wanted to and most importantly, it stops you getting involved in a bidding war.

best of luck anyway, ............. 1000 quid is defo the going rate right now ...............
