After starting with eml light on allied to reset came back on after 60 miles code p1170, now have traction control light and parking brake light as well.

Had a problem similar in an old vw and it was abs sensor. Still only getting p1170 code on torque app, still lets me reset and car still driving fine. Does bmw suffer with abs sensor issues?
 
To confirm, you have the EML, traction control and parking brake light on? That’s an unusual combination and unlikely to be ABS related (yes, they do have ABS sensor issues, along with yaw sensor, steering angle sensor etc.) without the ABS warning light also on.
 
it looks like I have a bd leak from oil filter housing gasket, and I think this may all be related. quite a lot of oil down among the deep part of engine block and around some sensors. may be having an impact.
 
It may sound a bit weird but how healthy is your battery?

I've had some random amber warning lights and fault codes on my last two Z4s when the battery was on its last legs!
