Getting rid of cigarette smell

Looking for the best way to get rid of that stale cigarette smell.
Wife's newly purchased E85 smells strongly of stale cigarettes every time the heater is switched on.
We've blitzed every surface possible today, including cotton buds in the air vents, hoovering, febreze, you name it, but the smell still lingers.
I've been reading up on various 'bombs' but the feedback appears to be that the odour ones simply overpower the smell and after a week or two it comes back.
Going to use one of the aircon cleaner bombs which will help I hope.
Anyone got any good suggestions?

I have suggested Val takes up cigars but apparently that's a no!

Change interior filters? If it comes on through the heater the air comes through the filters.

Cheap and easy might be worth changing.

Change the cabin filter and use an air con bomb. Fabreze the carpets and headlining... the smell will go.

I smoke, but never in my cars or house... it fekin stinks.

If there is any sticky residue in the heater pipes you could try carb and throttle body cleaner as this cleans most oil and tar types of residue

Just put it on a cloth and wipe where you can reach, don't just spray it down the pipes

50/50 mix of water and white vinegar in a spray bottle.
Gets rid of EVERYTHING!

Yes - just read this post
Nanolex Odex - I’ve not smelled my G’daughters cheesy vomit since!

£12 a bottle but worth it in my opinion.
Expensive it was but it’s worked - many thanks to Bee Emm who recommended

Ps
The good sprinkle if bicarb’ on the floor was a good help - it did for 75% (ish) of the pong but the Nanolex cured it completely
.

Water and white vinegar does Indeed get rid of most smells. I bought a Mazda6 off a smoker. Took me months but the smell did clear eventually. I must have cleaned the cabin 10 times by then. Don't forget the carpets

I would say that as the warm /top down weather arrives - the problem will go in proportionate roof down times!
It might be worth just doing the bi carb on the carpets for now and hanging onto your dosh until the roof comes off

A fair point, and a good excuse for the wife to go topless!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We did actually get out with the roof down yesterday, as it was a sweltering 4 degrees!
Very comfortable in fact, but we stuck the heater on just to blow warm air on the back of her hands, and the smoky smell was noticeable.
Managed to get a cabin filter and an aircon 'bomb' delivered from Eurocarparts for a total of £7.08. For that price I'll give them a go first and as everyone suggests, just keep nibbling away a bit at a time.

Thanks for all the help so far

I bought a car that had been smoked in, once. I will never buy one again.
Despite professional steam cleaning of all fabrics, smoke bombs, changing cabin filter it never truly got rid of the small. When the heaters where on there was always a slight tinge.

Give everything a steam clean if you can.

Oh great. Thanks.
Well it'll have to be roof down everywhere then

Once again, you really need to try Nanolex Odex. It eliminates all smells including the 'rasp from the back' mentioned in your thread on E85/86 Z 4 discussion. :) It does not mask smells.

Can’t argue with that

Yup, noted, thanks. Gathering a collection of filters and cleaners.
It WILL go, even if I set off some kind of chemical reaction and gas myself :D
