Getting MP3 track info to show correctly.

I've burned a few discs of MP3s to play in the car. Some tags show the details correctly, some not at all or just a few weird characters.

Research seems to suggest I need to use ID3v1 or ID3v2 to tag the files but is there anything else I need to do?

I know on my Audi that I need to avoid certain characters and also to make sure the file path doesn't exceed a certain length.

Any tips or rules for me folks?

Ok, again for future reference in case somebody hits this in a search...

I found the following things.

Head unit would read all my existing MP3 tag information fine, however the same disc in the changer was missing most of them.

I re burned the cd but reformatted the tags as ID3v1 and they all now appear correctly.

Also worth noting that as with many MP3 players you need to number the file names in order as they appear on the album otherwise they just get played in alphabetical order.
