Getting in/out of a Z, gracefully. Can it be done?

It's easy, you should try getting in/out of an Elise if you want to try difficult

Wait till your nearing 70.I can get in ok ,but getting out is a problem these days.I often drive for hours just so I don't have to get out!!!!!!!!!,but then the other problem that affects older men kicks in!!!!!!!!!!!!

I can empathise with this (getting on in years and I have a knee that will not bend more than enough to use accelerator or brake), but I find with the roof down that I can get out with reasonable 'grace.'

I'm 1.85m tall (a gnats whisker over 6 foot). I find getting my right leg out sideways as far as possible means I can then lean out and effectively do a single leg squat to get upright. Of course, after leg day at the gym this is a tad more difficult/impossible, and have on occasion, considered calling the Mrs to ask for my lunch to be served "dans l'auto".

I think the most important thing is to do it quickly. I'm 26 and I love the low height, but I notice when my parents try they do it slow and then have problems. It's like when you use Lat machine, if you do it quick it's easy but if you do it slow then suddenly it's difficult. Just open the door, put right foot outside on the ground then use that same foot to push yourself up. To get in I just put my left foot in first in place, sit then other foot back in — it must be done quick otherwise you'll lose balance and mess up.

If you have SmartTop then you can press the roof-up button after you press engine stop (but before you take out the key) and then quickly get out as the roof opens down. My Gf says that I look like James Bond when I do it, maybe with enough practice I'll be able to do it to look like Tony Stark :P
