Getting bored with black

I've had my Z for 3 years now and I still love it, but I'm getting a little bit bored with the black!!! looks great when it's clean but terrible when it isn't
So I've been thinking about getting it wrapped which seems to be a very cost effective way of changing the colour.
I've been quoted between £650 and £800 to get it changed to this colourFB_IMG_1469895336437.jpg, what do people think??
this is the car at the moment, the paint is in very good condition just stone chips on the front of the bonnet and the front bumper. 20160817_123810.jpg
 
I can understand your comments re black. Hard to keep clean and having once had one myself, never again. I also think it's a flattening colour on the Z4

The wrap seems a good option for a total colour change and ability to return to original with limited outlay, provided they don't do any paint damage installing it.

Fancy a full paint colour change myself having seen the Jeep orange (Think it was sunblaze?) Z4 next to me at the weekend. Haven't asked for years but my last total colour change was £650 with me sending in just a driving shell so I guess £2k+??

I do like that colour a lot
 
I like the idea, mine is also black and the paintwork is full of swirls and scratches so a wrap would be ideal. I got quoted £1,195 so depending on workmanship that seems a good price.

Don't get a matte colour though, they just make any car look cheap imo

You'd probably be looking at 7-800 from my mate who did mine

Does a wrap work with stone chips or do they need fixing first?
 
Only thing puts me off a wrap is the risk of the fitters leaving little scalpel mark cuts in the paint. I'd like to wrap my MR2 but this is putting me off.
 
Go for it Si , £800 is a cheap way of getting the new car feel , my choice would be the new Java green , it would look great with black bits like wingmirrors & wheels :thumbsup:

I agree with most give the wrap a try. But get it done somewhere recommended.

Andy is right that green is AMAZING.

Don't worry about scalpel damage, they use proper equipment and safety measures.
Depends on the vinyl but most do cover stone chips and slight damage, can't expect miracles though :lol:

But take advantage of all the wacky colour options available a pic something distinctive are unique - some great options out there

Im looking into getting mine wrapped as well I got quoted £1100 im still not sure what colour to go for I really like
the 3m satin dark grey, I tried to get some pics off google images to put up on here but could't manage to do it
 
I suppose a wrap is an easier solution than changing car like I did! :lol:

(Mind you, my method was cheaper)!

After looking at the "after" pics of a GTR I saw having the wrap taken off, no thanks! :thumbsdown:

Paint damage, paint lift, scratch marks - all with the best safety precautions taken.

OP, word of warning, most of the people mentioning how great it is have yet to take off their wraps (no offence chaps).

Word of Warning #2: It seems that despite having insurance against poor workmanship, or liability insurance for damage, neither is valid when it comes to wraps. Apparently this is due to so many people making false claims to try and get “free” re-sprays. However, in talking with people in the industry, it also seems to be because the insurance companies recognise the risk of damage to cars by applying a wrap. This is, for me, a second clear source of concern for anyone considering a wrap. The fact of the matter is you are putting a solvent based adhesive onto your paint and then trapping it there. It’s no wonder it can cause damage, especially to “complex” paint systems like Ultimate Silver.
 
I really don't get this. I accept that black can be hard work - I should know as fora the past 20 years Mrs R and I have only had black cars.

However, for +/-£1k you could get a lot of paintwork done and avoid the risks of what happens when wrap is removed. If I was OP I would get the front end re-sprayed and get it properly detailed. But I am not The OP so he can and will do what he pleases! Just my view......

Yes that's the colour Marlon although I have seen a blue and a red colour that I like as well just can't make my mind up
what to go with yet
