Hey,

I am looking to get a Z4 to replace my MX-5 quite liking the look and price of this one http://www.carwoof.co.uk/used-cars/bmw/z4/used-bmw-z4-i-se-wetherby-628735.html what do you think?

If I got it I was thinking of doing a plasti-dip in flat blue any one got any experience in this the online videos make it look pretty easy.

Cheers Johnny.

Looks nice, can't check the spec as the website doesn't seem to work properly on my mobile.

As for price, I have no idea but I'm sure someone who's bought a 4pot recently will be along soon.

These cars look so good in red - but it needs to be a 3.0 litre ideally - but 3.0's in red are as rare as hens teeth :(

Car itself looks pretty clean though !

Hi Z-FAW, the Zed you're looking at is an SE which means it comes without the desirable ///M sports seats, ///M sports suspension, ///M sports staggered 18in wheels and /// M sport steering wheel. It has no heated seats either which are very useful on a Zed. The Zed does have interactive buttons on the steering wheel though and is RED which is rare and sought after. Mileage is low (but will rack up quickly and your Zeds value will fall quickly being a 2.0 litre)

The SE version of the Zed is said to have a nicer (slightly softer) ride, tyres are cheaper as they are higher profile side wall 17 in so running a Zed is made cheaper. The engine is the same as in the 2.0i Sport.

The 2.0i Sport would be the preferred choice of most (mostly for the looks as they both can perform well on the road) so resale may be more difficult (or you can change the wheels and seats etc yourself but at a cost). The red is significant and would entice buyers.

There are many 2.0 litres for sale so I would hold out for the 2.0i Sport and take your time to buy one with the most options - lots available. If you are after one in red then you will have to take what you can as there's not many about.

Have you considered a 3.0 litre? You are near the price point where high mileage 3.0si are available. They are well thought of, sought after and have a better reputation in regards to engine. Another option would be the 2.5si - these are cheaper and there are more available as the 3.0si is the preferred model, however they are nearly as capable - the driver makes the difference on the road.

I wouldn't bother plasti-coating the Zed - find one in blue - as I said, there are many for sale.

As always a very comprehensive and informative answer from paulgs1000 - Can't think of much else to add, but I will echo his sentiments regarding plasti-coating: wait for the right colour to come up for sale.

Looks nice in those photo's. Miles are good, but buy on condition, not miles. You know you want a 6 pot of course. Four pots get worked hard a appear to be a little more fragile as a result. No idea on price. You pays what you pays.

^^this^^
the six cylinder engines make the cars much more special to drive, the sound & smoothness are a league apart from the 2litre 4cylinder & any increase in running costs are minimal in the grand scheme of things.
Also note that an SE model can also have the M sport seats & suspension, staggered wheels etc from new (as mine was) Happy hunting!

Nice looking Zed - I don't think I've ever seen a red one with red interior. Pity its an Auto and the seats are not M sports, even if Autos are your thing it would be next to impossible to find red M sports seats to swap in. Lovely looking car though.
