I just renewed mine last month after 10 years but got a reminder through the post from DVLA. Did it online as I renewed my passport recently and they use the same photo :thumbsup:

Unlikely. GPS receivers are not that small and use a fair amount of power, very unlikely there is a battery in there. So no.

This was a teaser... though with induction charging & that people often leave their mobile by their wallet, all the technology's there to make it happen with a super slim rechargeable battery - you heard it here first, can't say more
 
I've just applied for my first photocard licence due to a change of address. I'm hoping to get away with keeping my old paper one as a souvenir of my formative years :)
