The race tomorrow should be very exciting. The qualify times of Red Bull and Ferrari were so close, and McLaren were not far behind. Williams also showed strong form. I think accidents are predicted during the race.

Its a good circuit Germany, first lap should be interesting as drivers will be a little excited at the prospect of some easy (in comparrison to some tracks) overtakes.

Im routing for Jenson, as i quite like the fella and i know his cousin.

Also looking forward to top gear later, Tom cruise will probably put in a good time as hes no stranger to the track. Cam diaz im not so sure!

I like Hockenheim but I miss the long straights of the old layout.

Barring more calamities I think Alonso ought to win today. I think on this track, this weekend, he is the strongest combination of driver & car.

I'd have to put my money on Seb today. He's a few things to prove and Mark W is a good few places back, but watch out for him taking a few out (or off) on the first lap.

Shoudl be a good race though given quite a few close times up front and overtaking possibilities

Massa gave the lead to Alonso during the race, and the win. Massa's race engineer Rob Smedley told the Brazilian on the radio "Fernando is faster than you. Can you confirm you understood that message?" Clearly it was the signal for him to let Alonso pass. It was not first time that Ferrari did it (Austrian GP in 2002).

It was unsavoury.

Aweful for the sport, Massa (and Smedley for being ordered) to do that, although I do understand the reasoning behind it.

They should get a points drop or penalty for damaging the sport

I think I heard they've been fined £65,000. Wow, thats not even half the cost of their base model road car, as iff Ferarri will miss that sum of money...

VERY bad for the sport IMO. I was quite enjoying the season so far but that's put me off quite a bit. Feel sorry for Massa and Smedley too, you could hear it in his voice when he was telling Massa that's what he had to do.

I agree. I think a points deduction would be a far more suitable punishment than a fine. Hit them where it really hurts.

Would everyone agree this reinforces the Ferrari vs Rest of field theory ?

Agree a points reduction is where the penalty should be. If Alonso wins the Championship by a small margin, £65k will be a cheap penalty.
I feel for Massa after what he 's been through in the last year.
Rather sad a fantastic season has once again been brouhaha into disrepute.

Perhaps reversing the first / second positions would be more apt, as well as a larger fine, and points drop.

Alonso is just a whinger, if he cant get his own way he just rants, he was just the same at McClaren, as usual Ferrari International Assistace came to their rescue, and I wont even start with Jean Tote

Utter shame for Massa. It was great to see him running at the front again, and I was looking forward to another Alonso whinging session.
It's against the regs, so $100k seems a tiny amount if it leads to Ferrari winning the drivers title, with the income that generates.

Having said that, it is a team sport so I'm not sure it should be a big deal. It certainly happens elsewhere (WTC, BTCC) and not just Ferrari in F1 previously (Coulthard/Hakkinen). As for other sports, think Tour De France. Didn't other team mates even have to give up their car for Fangio in the middle of races if his car broke down?!

Yeah,its a very bad thing for f1,imho.
although its happened before, since then they changed the rules,to avoid exactly this happening again!
therefore they should be docked points and cash fine(circa $500k),and the 1st /2nd places reversed.
that would (maybe)teach them?!!

Massa's race engnr even said sorry over the radio after alonso passed :headbang:
Not what u want to see,to be honest!!

+1

Watched the 'highlights' last night.

I stopped watching F1 a couple of years back because of the all the in fighting and politics degrading the sport. Was enjoying this season, until this race.

It is motor racing - Alonso should have had to pass on the track without Massa having to slow down. sucks, big time - and the penalty is peanuts for them.

Poor Massa

It just makes Ferrari look like the bunch of cheats they really are.How on earth did they think they'd get away with it,it was so obvious.I hope they get points docked or better disqualified from the German GP.Makes the whole of F1 look like a shabby mess.A bad day.I can't see Jean Todh ( or whatever is bleedin name is) dishing out anything serious,he was the instigator of the last lot of team orders at Ferrari.

Are Ferrari still being paid an "appearance fee" by the FIA just for turning up to the race?
