George Osborne - Briton of the year... Discuss

If you emigrate, but retain British nationality, do you still get your state pension ?

(Sorry sars :D )

Oh yes of course you do and you can still vote too, however if you live outside the EU you don't get the annual increase

Ta - I shall ensure I factor out any increase in my emigration calculations :D

Yes a work colleague recently did this and took early retirement and emigrated to Brazil, so receives his pension etc :)

Tim.

So is it ok for us to go to foreign parts not for them to come to us???

I went to the rural Malaga area ago and it was like an English ghetto. :( I would not go back there for that reason.

I wonder how well Alaister Darling would do?

He would be my choice.

Brown and Darling both said that UK was best placed to come out of recession FIRST and STRONGEST - When that didn't happen I asked a Labour MP in a face to face discussion why they had got it so fundamentally wrong.

The reason/excuse given was that they had not realised the contribution the financial sector made to our economy!

Politics aside that is not the sort of statements you want to hear from the men in charge of the money box. :(

Darling was lumbered with probably the worst PM in a century.

Brown was paranoid, narcissistic, a bully and a liar.

how exactly was Darling meant to shine?

I like and respect Alistair Darling. He's a real gentleman.

He never really got a chance as a Chancellor but I suspect he would've been rather weak.

Osborne's done a good job so far. Far better than the alternatives would've done. So much more still to be done though.

I see France has approved it's 75% top tax rate. Could be a lot worse.....

must confess I subscribe to the charity begins at home school of economics, so don't know the precise statistics; but has the national debt not reduced in the last 2 years?
