Hello chaps,

Just recently bought a black Z4C Si Sport with red leather, as I fancied a change from the VX220 Turbo I had before. I've had 6 VX220s over the past 5 or so years (for various reasons I had to get rid but always went back) but I have always wanted a Z4C since they first came out. I found one that was within my price range so I popped down to have a look and ended up leaving a deposit there and then. I got it for a steal, and although it has high miles they're all motorway miles and has FBMWSH which was the deal breaker.

It drives so much more smoothly than the VX and of course the build quality is far far superior than a handbuilt car from Norfolk. Nothing has come off in my hand yet, it doesn't leak and I don't break my back getting in and out! It really is too difficult to compare them as the VX was remapped to 240bhp and 275lb-ft of torque and as it weighed next to nowt so the acceleration was comparable to a motorbike! The Z4C is much more of a GT and at times doesn't feel like a sports car. I had a 350z briefly but the running costs were extortionate and I could not justify keeping it. I thought that was luxurious but of course anything will be compared to a little plastic shitbox!

I've only got a couple of questions since buying it. First, is that when I turn the engine off there is a metallic rattle from the engine. Is this normal?
Also I am buying 4 new tyres but instead of getting RFTs (which I hate) I have decided to get Falken FK-452s. As a relative novice of cars with modern technology, will fitting the non RFTs have any affect on the tyre pressure monitor or does the garage need to use the original valves from the old tyres (told you I was a novice!)

Anyway, enough of me typing and I thank you for reading all the way to this point so as a reward here is a pic of my old VXT and my new Z4C...

Tyre pressure monitor isn't measured at the wheel, it's all to do with changes in rolling radius, so no worries there.

Fitters may have a pig of a job removing the old rfts, and may kick up a fuss about the replacements not being standard spec - but many others have done exactly the same.

Another coupe owner joins the ranks - shame you didn't come out to Scotch corner last Sunday http://www.z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=27303&start=90 - could have showed it off to the roadster owners!

Hi and welcome - similar story to myself but I came from an Elise. Really loved it but not really a 4 season car.

The metallic rattle is from the driveshaft settling and is perfectly normal. Just keep the clutch depressed when turning the engine off.

I was gonna say that :D

Nice car hope you enjoy ... Iv had a 350z too and it was nowhere near as nice as my Z4 coupe

Another VX deserter!

I made the move to a Coupe last year too, How are you finding it? I'm still not convinced I made the right choice........ I did spend this weekend removing th rear clam off gbobm's rather sorry NA and I can't say I miss that part though!

Ha I did see Bob's Facebook photo of the clam removed. And after 5 years of a VX220 I still think I made the right choice. I do miss the 'tinkering' on a weekend but I have recently bought an old Clio to tinker with on a weekend. The Coupe is just so 'safe' compared to the VX.
