Genesis touring...!

One row back from the stage dead centre @ Manchester Arena. :trampoline: :trampoline:

£480 chuffing quid though.... :o :o Never seen them before and always wanted to, it’ll be the last chance ever, they’ll not tour again so why not..? :D

Anyone else going...?

I know lots would rather stick pins in their eyes but you never know....

Have seen them in Wembley Stadium (Invisible Touch), Manchester Old Trafford (Turn It On Again), and Knebworth (We Can't Dance - sitting in the crook of a tree near the sound desk - which I think was a better experience than any arena event they've done). I've also got an 1990s Earls Court concert in my head, and I remember one got cancelled, but can't remember exactly and my emails from that time are no help.

Booked mine on Wednesday for Liverpool (M&S) Arena - and spent an hour before I finally got a decent seat in Block B.

Every other seat offer seemed to be a VIP only offer with a sandwich beforehand for £600/ticket - fecking parasites.

Not forgetting the 10% service charge too - surely it should be a flat £2.50 per ticket???

Although they did say their last one was their last one (went to that too, and got the band's signatures on my programme - including Daryl & Chester).

ETA: just seen they've added extra nights in Liverpool, Newcastle, Leeds, Birmingham, Manchester & Glasgow...so there must be enough keen stone-deaf coffin-dodgers with the cash to splash

Good luck on the night you guys!
Hate to troll this thread with pessimism but have you seen the state of Phil during the press calls? He’s literally on his last legs!
Mike and Tony look to be in good health but Phil looks about ready for measuring up if you ask me!
I foresee gig cancellations and a lot of unhappy punters....

He's had health issues for a while, and he can't play the drums for any significant time either, but that's been the case since an accident in 2016.

His son Nick will be taking over drumming duties as he has before - but I don't think there'll be any dancing around the stage like on previous tours. Means we'll probably miss out on the drum solos, but they get boring after 60 seconds or so.

As long as the voice holds up, then I'm happy - and it seemed fine (if pitched a little lower) during the final legs of the Not Dead Yet tour in 2019 (when he was performing of course) despite sitting down the whole time.

Although if you catch video of him during drum intros/solos you can see how bored he is just sitting there with nothing to do :(

He's not going to get any younger or less infirm, so think of it more as a chance to see them as this may really, finally, be their final farewell tour :(

No I totally get it.
I got to see some of my musical heroes before they checked out and I'm happy for that. But they were all in relatively good health and on top form.

Phil looks and talks like one of the walking dead however. Sorry to put it so bluntly. But wouldn't you prefer to remember him in a better way?

Elvis didn't know when to call it a day.
Van Morrison is the same. The last gig of his I went to I thought there was something wrong with his mic. He was incoherent!

Billy Connolly has called it a day due to Parkinsons and he's made the right choice imo. I'll treasure the memories of some gigs of his when he was on top form right up until very recently.

Frankly, I'm amazed the Genesis tour promoters have managed to get liability insurance approved. The t&c's might make for interesting reading tho.

 You seem to know much more about their health and whether they’re good to go or not than they do Chris...!!

Remember Phil in another way...?? He ain’t dead FFS...! He’s just done a 2 1/2 year world tour as a solo artist. Mike Rutherford said he’s in good health so why not do the tour.

Maybe you ought to contact them and tell them they’re all talking shite and Phil’ll be in a box come tour kick off so they really ought to cancel it all.

I tend to agree but I still reckon l’m doing better than old Phil and I’ve got a few years head start on him.

The scarey thing for me is that I’m sounds like he had the same sort of spinal surgery as me. Fortunately my surgery seems to have stabilised my condition

The power of the media at work, I got pushed into A&E after a very bad AF attack before the ablation surgery and I was 50, if someone had takin a pic at that time I’d have looked like that. People recover in time but there’s no pic of that is there.

It’s no secret Phil is not a fit young man anymore, but that doesn’t mean he’s written off and incapable of gong onstage as his last tour proved. Tbh I don’t care if he sits down throughout the whole show if that suits him, he’s said he’ll do a little drumming but his son will do the vast majority, I’m pretty sure he knows if he’s fit or not to do the tour and as it’s on I’m assuming he is.

A fiver says he won't make it to the end of the tour.

I would like to go and see them but had a similar conversation recently about paying a huge amount of money to see the Eagles, my mate put it into context saying that you should only pay to see bands on an upward spiral to their peak and not on their demise.

I have seen many of my heroes but feel that maybe you're better to remember them how they were rather than spend a fortune and be hugely disappointed which I'm sure most Genesis fans will be :(

I saw them late 70's in Manchester, then at Roundhay Park Leeds 1987
Managed to get reasonably priced priority tickets for this tour again in Leeds. Can't wait

I preferred Collins solo stuff than with Genesis and saw him in 1987 when he joined Clapton, Nathan East and Greg Phillinganes on their tour at the time, they did some good music and performed well together.

Was a bit shocked when I saw Collins on the News the other day, he's only 69 I think so not past it by any means but age doesn't seem to have treated him well :(

Tim.
