Just in case there's anyone out there currently speccing up a new Zed... (And yes, this thread does mention M sport.)

Buying a 35i M sport is currently cheaper than buying the 35i, to the tune of an extra £3k in dealer contribution towards the deposit.

Also, just for fun, playing around with the configurations, you can get the 35iM for about £60 more a month than the equivalent options in a 28iM (depending of course on the options you choose).

For example, BMW Select on a 48 month agreement (10k miles) on the 35iM is £580/month. Calcs based on their default customer deposit of £6200 and dealer deposit of £8105. So what costs just under £50k OTR , the amount of credit is around £35k.

Not a bad deal for what you're getting.

Yep that offer has been on for quite some time now. Free M sport plus discount in essence. They're running it over most of the range, 6 series for example has 0% finance, free M sport and 7k off.

From reading pistonheads folks have been getting brand new m5's cheaper than that.

I'd go M5.

Good info though.

I had a play on that last night and noticed the discount on a 35i with DCT, then went to the Porsche site and played with a Boxster S and got to the same spec at £53k....

I really want a Boxster now

Save yourself a wad of cash, these are hardly run in.

When times are hard BMW are always doing the high dealer contributions to get the punters in. Think I got 8K off mine and had to double check with the salesman and then ask whats the catch. Reply was the Z4 simply wasn't selling and BMW had told dealers to shift the cars. I guess same with the M5 etc, I bet they don't sell that many.

M5 is a bit dearer tho!

I guess.

Whats frustrating for me is the deals are never that good on the 1 Series as they're more popular and tend to be more model/spec specific. When I bought the Zed it came to 22K after dealer contribution and my deposit, 8+2K. The 1 Series I had specced at the time was a 116i M Sport and came out at 27K with 2K dealer contribution so it would have ended up a fair bit more expensive. Crazy really and shows what good value the Zed was at the time.
