Hi , I've noticed the gear stick vibrate a lot when out of gear. Does anyone know if this is the norm?

Sounds like you also have a 2.0l? I was a tad worried myself when I stopped at traffic lights and first noticed the lumpy tick over. It does cause my gear stick to vibrate when stationary but as you said its a trait of the engine. Apparently it can be smoothed out though with an ecu software update if this is the cause of your gear stick vibration. I might look into this myself as it is one of those things when you know it's there you're constantly looking out for it (like a bad squeak haha)!!

Hi , yes it's the 2l sport that I have. Would a local bmw dealership be able to sort this?

How many miles has? Have you replace the grearoil? I know that BMW say that it's for life but I don't think so. At least once a live is good replace it imo.

Seems a couple of people have had success with the ecu update (if the engine idle is causing the vibrations).
