Gearknob removal

As above could anyone pls tell have to remove my gear knob, It feels a bit loose and I would like to tighten it up a bit but I can't quite see how to do it and don't want to break any thing, Thanks.
 
Just pull, it's a friction fit, with a sort of clip built into the gear knob at the top. However, take care as it should have a couple of wires attached. You can tighten it up by wrapping a couple of turns of insulation tape around the gear lever, then refit.
 
Thanks for the info mate, What about where the gator fits around the knob how is it attached there. If I just pull it up the gator will still be holding it ?. Should it light up then as you say there are a couple of wires in there, Have not driven car in dark yet so not sure wether mine lights up or not, will get it out of garage tonight and a have a look tonight.
 
Gator isn't attached to the knob, but disconnect the wiring first otherwise it will break.

Pull the gator inwards at the base on either of the long edges, you should then be able to remove easily and see the plug for the illumination.
 
Bung in reverse, straddle the centre console and pull- careful not to smack urself in the face- there have been black eyes on here in the past !
