I have a e85 3.0i and just wanted to know did bmw have a choice of gearbox when buying a z4 as mine has a m badge next to the numbers on gearshift and ive seen cars without the badge

That'll be someone swapping the gear knob over.
Put up a pic, you may have a ZHP weighted one on there.

Just make sure you give it a sharp tug straight up. Don't try twisting it!!

It looks like it's a ZHP. They are much better than what BMW fitted as standard to Z4s as they are a bit shorter and a fair bit heavier. They were standard fit on E46 3 Series Spot models which is why they have the M logo.

If it's a genuine ZHP that's a result as BMW charge about £60 for them! It should weigh about 160g IIRC, but some are cheap copies and aren't weighted.
